(Forever People v1 #1) It emerged as one of two major [[Metropolis (DC)|Metropolis]] crime-cartels after several years of gangland disunity and fragmentation, alongside rival outfit The 100. Intergang was led by Morgan Edge, the mogul of the Galaxy Broadcasting System, and supplied with hi-tech alien weapons, transportation and communication devices from the distant world of Apokolips. Unbeknownst to the members on the lower rungs of the hierarchy, Intergang's purpose was to front one aspect of the tyrant New God Darkseid's quest for the Anti-Life Equation, which he knew to be contained in the recesses of the human collective unconscious. Edge's role was to use the massive financial and technical resources of GBS to support and direct Intergang in the furtherance of this goal. Intergang planted a powerful explosive device inside a video camera and intended for Daily Planet cub reporter Jimmy Olsen and the Newsboy Legion to deliver it to the Mountain of Judgement with the Whiz Wagon like an unwitting Trojan horse. Clark Kent was simultaneously targeted in a hit-and-run assassination attempt when Morgan Edge felt that Clark's fervent objections to Jimmy's assignment endangered the task laid out for him. After surviving the attempted assassination, Clark caught up to the Whiz Wagon as Superman and disarmed its explosive package prior to the moment of detonation. Years later Miracle needed money for a new tour, and was ready for Steel hand's "Big Trap," but Steel Hand was afraid of losing the bet and losing face, so he wanted Miracle dead. An Intergang sniper killed Miracle, and his friend New God Scott Free dressed in Mr.Miracle's garb and confronted Steel Hand, but Intergang goons knocked him out and tied him to the "Big Trap," a rocket that shot Miracle into space, and then exploded. The new Mr. Miracle easily escaped the trap, defeated Steel hand, and handed him and his Intergang goons over to the police. (Mister Miracle v1 #1)

Crippled Vietnam vet Sergeant Willie Walker witnessed the shooting, and although he could not move or speak Sugar-Man was ready to eliminate him as a witness before the Black Racer intervened and exploded Sugar-Man s gun in his hand. Intergang members tasked by Darkseid were preparing to detonate a bomb that would shut off the city s communication centers, but Orion defeated them. Sugar-Man escaped with the bomb, but with Orion s mother box he lifted the bomb into space, where it exploded harmlessly. Black Racer, now using Walker as a host, claimed Sugar-Man s life. (New Gods v1 #3) Darkseid developed a jammer that kept Mother Boxes from locating the New Gods of Apokolips, and gave the jammer to Intergang to hide and protect. Orion forced Intergang member Snaky Doyle to reveal the location and confronted Country Boy and his Intergang underlings in a seaside hideout. Orion easily handled them and destroyed the jammer. They came to eliminate the scientist responsible for creating it to prevent it from being used against them. + | A series of reports by Clark Kent exposed Inter-Gang, and led to the arrests of several high ranking remembers. In retaliation they sent a robot to Clark's apartment to kill him, but Clark changed into Superman and easily dispatched the mechanical menace. Inter-Gang then planned on a way of destroying Superman, and converted the Big Eye, the world's most powerful telescope, into a weapon that channeled energy from orange stars. A later plot by them involved the hijacking of the telescope at the '''Olympus Observatory''' with the intention of converting it into a plasma cannon capable of channeling power from distant orange-type stars. Their plot was stopped though by the intervention of Superman. They shot a blast of the energy at Metropolis, and Superman stopped it by smothering it in sand, but he had unwittingly played into their hands. The orange energy would activate in his body if he performed any super-feats in the next few days, igniting him and all of Metropolis. What they did not know was that Superman had lost his powers when not in costume, and decided to retire as Clark Kent. Clark did another investigation into Inter-Gang, and with the help of an informant found their truck, a mobile office. He used an anti-gravity device built for him by his friend Prof. Pepperwinkle to subdue the thugs inside and liberate a bunch of Inter-Gang papers. (Superman v1 #297) Clark Kent's investigation led to Inter-Gang boss Max Danner being brought up for trial with Clark as the star witness. Clark didn't show up for the first day of testimony, but Inter-Gang wanted to make sure he wouldn't be a problem, and sent a hitman to his apartment. Unknown to them Clark had decided to spend the week living only as Superman. The hitman found that Clark wasn't home, but Xviar, Clark's malevolent alien neighbor, was rifling through his apartment, and disintegrated the meddling hitman. (Superman v1 #298)

History
Pre-Crisis
Intergang was a criminal gang operated on Earth who consisted of humans that operated as agents of the New God Darkseid. (Forever People v1 #1) It emerged as one of two major Metropolis crime-cartels after several years of gangland disunity and fragmentation, alongside rival outfit The 100. (Superman's Pal, Jimmy Olsen v1 #134)
Escape artist Mr. Miracle Thaddeus Brown made a bet with Intergang chief Steel Hand that he couldn't devise an inescapable trap.
Sugar-Man assassinated fellow gang member Screamer, who his boss Badger thought was going to turn over evidence to the cops. (New Gods v1 #4)
Afterwards, an Intergang scientist was responsible for creating a thinking computer named K.A.R.L. 1 that was based on Mother Box technology. They came to eliminate the scientist responsible for creating it to prevent it from being used against them. However, K.A.R.L. 1 was stolen by members of the 100 where Vince Adams intended to use it to plot the demise of the vigilante Thorn. (Superman's Girl Friend, Lois Lane v1 #115)
A series of reports by Clark Kent exposed Inter-Gang, and led to the arrests of several high ranking remembers.
