Whilst in Queens, she was present during the investigation of a potential ecological disaster when Terrax was reborn and attacked. Namora was the first hero to attack him with her joined by a number of other young heroes who fought him together leading to his defeat. The Avengers arrived and dismissed the young heroes with Namora being recruited by Dwayne Taylor as they formed the New Warriors. (New Warriors v1 #1)

- Namorita was created by Bill Everett where she made her first appearance in Sub-Mariner v1 #50 (June, 1972).
- It was revealed that writer Chris Yost intended for the character of Water Snake to be one of 12 clones of Namorita with one being used as a means of resurrecting the character in New Warriors but the book ended before the story arc could be written.
