The Acolytes were a team of super-powered [[Mutants (Marvel)|Mutants]] who were followers of [[Magneto]]. Originally, they were a group of Mutants brought together by [[Fabian Cortez]] who had led them in stealing a space shuttle to go into orbit as they headed towards [[Asteroid M]]. Once there, they met with Magneto and pledged themselves to his teachings of the superiority of Mutantkind and their dominance over normal humans. This caused some members of the group to even beginning to worship the Master of Magnetism with religious fervour and saw him as a 'Mutant Messiah'. Magneto decided to allow them to stay with him and he came to refer to them as his Acolytes. Looking to save his race, Exodus came to establish a new form of the Acolytes that consisted of the small few that retained their powers. However, for this, they needed a Cerebro scanner capable of scanning the world and finding potential Mutants before their powers manifested in the first place. History
Origin
The Acolytes were a team of super-powered Mutants who were followers of Magneto. Originally, they were a group of Mutants brought together by Fabian Cortez who had led them in stealing a space shuttle to go into orbit as they headed towards Asteroid M. Once there, they met with Magneto and pledged themselves to his teachings of the superiority of Mutantkind and their dominance over normal humans.
