Biography

Ruth Aldine was a female Mutant born without eyes in the modern age in North Carolina. Her father left a week after her birth after being disgusted at his Mutant child. This left her mother as a lone parent who cared for Ruth and her older brother Luca. He came to despise his sister and secretly beat her for her Mutant nature for years. In time, he began to listen to priests calling Mutants abomination and Luca by the time he was an adult began to act more aggressively. This culminated in him taking a chainsaw and intending to kill Ruth with her other intervening but she was killed in the process. One of her ancestors was Irene Adler who was the Mutant known as Destiny and was her possible great-grandmother. (X-Men: Legacy v1 #233)

  • Blindfold was created by Joss Whedon and John Cassaday where she was mentioned in Astonishing X-Men v3 #4 (October, 2004) before making her fist appearance in Astonishing X-Men v3 #7 (January, 2005).

Alternate Versions

  • In Old Man Hawkeye v1 #4 (2018), an alternate world setting that was home to Old Man Logan was shown that existed in the Multiverse and designated as Earth-807128. On this Earth, the Red Skull led a supervillain uprising that massacred the superheroes of the planet. Around 50 years in this future, Blindfold was shown as an older fortune teller that lived at Arcade's Murderworld. She witnessed the coming future of Old Man Hawkeye and warned him of his future. Blindfold had also been taking poison as she saw her own death and wanted to prevent the Venom infected Madrox Gang from using her knowledge to get their revenge on Clint Barton.
