At that time, Haarkun the Hunter had arrived to check on her whilst the goddess was on her way to Asgard to present the apples to All-Father Odin. The Fenris Wolf then adopted a human guise in order to trick her and claim the golden treasures for himself. Pretending to by a bystander, he offered his protection but the goddess refused and she came to see something off with this stranger where she confronted him thus forcing the Fenris Wolf to take his true form. Alone, Iduna was helpless against the powerful and evil wolf god but she was saved when Haakun the Hunter arrived on the scene. He came to through his enchanted axe that struck the wolf despite Fenris's attempts to evade it thus casing the god to be hurled in far Varinheim that was a seething shadow land of he lost that lay near the netherworld at the farthest reaches of the endless cosmos. It was said that this story came to be imparted to mortals of Midgard where it became the fairy tale of Little Red Riding Hood. (Journey into Mystery v1 #114)

The Fenris Wolf was unchained by Hela to assist in an attempt at bringing about Ragnarok, but the Ragnarok was thwarted by Thor. (Thor v1 #278)

The Fenris Wolf was later unchained again by Loki to join him, Ulik and Hyrm in an assault upon Asgard using weapons forged for them by Surtur. He accompanied his father Loki as they prepared to bring about Ragnarok. Ulik and Fenris attacked Thor in unison, and struck Mjolnir with such force that Sif's left arm was taken off in the blast. (Thor v2 #80) Their gathered forces came to overwhelm Thor but he came to be aided by the mortal Avengers. Loki and minions were defeated with Captain America scaring the Fenris Wolf into fleeing the scene. (Thor v2 #81) The Fenris Wolf went on to assault Kurse, who was protecting orphaned children. This made her a target among various pantheons and other entities who sought to kill their child. Among them was Cerberus who attempted to kill Rahne but the was attacked by the Fenris Wolf who was angered at the Olympian targeting one of his descendants. (X-Factor v1 #223) Fenris Wolf was part of the chaotic fight between the assembled forces, chewing on Cu Sith demon dogs, until mystical energies generated by Hel converged that explosively banished the mythic creatures. Overview

Personality and attributes

It was said that the evil wolf feared nothing that lived. The Fenris Wolf manner was said to be sinister with his eyes burning with hatred and pure savagery. Despite his evil, he was shown to demonstrate cowardly traits as well where he would rather flee from battle. (Journey into Mystery v1 #114)

Among his children were Hati and Skoll who were two souls that manifested as a single wolf called Managarmr. Due to his parentage, the wolf was regarded as the grandson of Loki. (Mighty Valkyries v1 #1) The Fenris Wolf came to mate with the Frost Giant Siingard's sister and their union produced a monstrous wolf offspring called the Hoarfen. (Incredible Hulk v1 #422) One of his descendants was the Wolf Prince Hrimhari. (X-Factor v1 #223)

Powers and abilities

His wolf ears allowed him to hear people speaking even if they were whispering. (Avengers: Back to Basics v1 #2)

He possessed the power to change his shape allowing him to adopt a human guise though he found such a form distasteful. The wolf god could use this tactically in a fight where he could shrink his form to avoid weapons thrown at him. (Journey into Mystery v1 #114) Fenris was capable of transforming into a more humanoid wolf form allowing him to engage in one-on-one battles with his opponents. (Avengers: Back to Basics v1 #2)

Though capable of being killed, he was able to come back to life with any wounds being restored. (Avengers: Back to Basics v1 #2)

In his humanoid form, Fenris was armed with a tooth hammer that he used as a weapon when fighting his enemies. Until Ragnarok, the wolf was bound by the unbreakable chain of Fenris until the prophecised time. (Thor v2 #81)

He was the father of the Wolf Gods who were his offspring that were able to shapeshift between their human form and into giant werewolf forms. They were noted to be allies of the giants of Jotunheim and helped guard parts of the realm from intruders. (Thor Annual v1 #12)
