The Human Colonists are a faction that featured in the game Dark Planet.

Background

In the early part of the 26th century the leaders of the world's first nations held an emergency summit in order to discuss the rising number of armed conflicts between the planet's second and third nations. Overpopulation, disease and mutation was rampant which was creating an international crisis on Earth. Militant Human right groups were secretly financed by technology corporations in order to push for a solution to the problems faced by mankind. This resulted in the formation of the Colonist Movement. After its creation, public support for the program was quickly followed.

Within six years, talks resulted in the conference spokesmen unveiling the Expansionist Charter. Rich countries poured billions into exploration and colonization of the nieghbouring star systems while the poorer natios provided cheap lives for the early extreme risk missions.

Three hundred years later, the Colonist Corps High Orbital Support Vessel (HOSV) Ganymede entered 6Hubley-21 in order to reach the system's fourth planet which was Natrolis. This was because all contact was lost with the seed-ship Natrolis Blossom four years prior once it landed on the planet. Final transmissions revealed to Colonist Secuity that the world was inhabited by a savage lizard-like species which would later be known as the [[Sorin]. However, reports would later come in of Dreil scouts in battle on the planet. This shocked the Colonist Council as it revealed the insectile Dreil to be slowly making their way to Earth and attempts were made to prevent further colonization by the aliens.

It took four years for the crew of the Ganymede to reach their destination, in that time they were in stasis until the Onboard Sentient Support System (OS3) awoke them that they reached the frontier of Natrolis and awakened the sleeping marines.
