History
Tatooine was a desert world located in the Outer Rim Territories in the galaxy far, far away.
During the reign of the Old Republic, the planet was noted to had gone under the control of the Hutts. A prominent Hutt crime lord on the planet was Jabba the Hutt.
Boba Fett later returned to Tatooine where he went to Jabba's Palace that had since been taken over by his Majordomo Bib Fortuna. The bounty hunter then killed the crime lord and take his place as the new crime boss on the planet.
After the final defeat of Emperor Palpatine, Rey took the lightsabers of both of her instructors namely Luke an Leia Skywalker where she took them to the Owen's farmstead. She then buried the two hilts beneath the sands by the farm as a grave marker. During this moment, a traveller said that it was good to see someone at the abandoned farm and asked Rey her full name to which she decided to go by Rey Skywalker.

- In Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, Tatooine appeared in the setting of the video game. It was revealed in the backstory that the planet was once part of the Rakata empire who decimated its surface leaving into a sand covered world.
- In Star Wars: Battlefront 2, Tatooine appeared as a playable map in the setting of the 2017 video game.
