Biography

Lockjaw was the name given to a dog that served the Royal Family of the Inhumans. One account held that his origins were traced to decades ago when an Inhuman from Attilan travelled to Earth and mistook a dog for a human child. This Inhuman was arrested upon her return to Attilan by the guard who confiscated the animal which was later given to the Surgeon Supreme. The scientist alongside his aide Ernok decided to use the female dog for experiments in Terrigenesis. This was because King Randac intended to perform his own project on exposing his son to Terrigen whilst within the womb. Thus, the Genetics Council authorised an experiment on an animal test subject with this being the dog. She was impregnated so that her puppies could be exposed to Terrigenesis within the womb. The dog had a litter of five puppies with only one of these being born with Inhuman powers. The unborn Lockjaw was intelligent and became aware that the Surgeon Supreme intended to dispose of the other puppies as they lacked his enhanced abilities. Thus, Lockjaw used his powers of teleportation to transport his siblings elsewhere in the universe to protect them whereupon he himself was born. (Lockjaw v1 #4)

Several years ago, Lockjaw was present when Black Bolt's insane brother Maximus created the Trikon and unleashed it upon the Inhumans. In that time, Lockjaw assisted Black Bolt in stopping the energy creature by using his teleportational powers to banish it to the antimatter universe known as the Negative Zone. However, while Black Bolt was otherwise busy, Maximus used the opportunity to seize the Inhuman throne and force Black Bolt and his cousins Crystal, Gorgon, Triton, and Karnak into exile. Lockjaw accompanied the exiles as they also began searching for Crystal's sister Medusa, who went missing in the battle with the Trikon, and unknown to all wandered off with amnesia.
