Origin
The Nanite Project was a scientific initiative that was funded by a wealthy group of people known as the Consortium. Its goal was to obtain the key to bringing about eternal life and they in turn assembled a group of the best scientists in the world. These scientists were involved in the project that experimented with the use of nanites with the intention of using them to help mankind by eliminating both disease and starvation. During its early stages, the Nanite Project faced a problem with controlling the developing the nanotechnology. Thus, two trains of thoughts were formed by the scientists to solve the issue. The first was the machine-to-machine theory that was strongly supported by Caesar Salazar and believed that the nanites needed to be controlled by other machines. This in turn led him to the creation of Alpha but this part of the project was halted when Alpha went out of control. The second theory was the human-to-machine concept that stated that a human being should control the nanites.
Nanite Event
During this time, Caesar along with his parents Violetta and Rafael Salazar intentionally sabotaged the project in order to keep the Consortium from gaining control of the Meta-Nanites. Caesar Salazar later claimed that they had done this in order to save the world. This was a statement supported by the White Knight who stated that the Consortium desired to use the Meta-Nanites to take over the world and become gods. After the resultant Nanite Event, the Consortium cut all ties with the Nanite Project and removed their funding of the program. However, it was later restarted by Caesar Salazar with the help of funding of Providence though despite being paid, Caesar had his own intentions with program and held no need to be duty bound to the Black Knight. Initially, Caesar attempted to fix the nanites which was his initial goal and involved reassembling the original scientists of the Nanite Project. After succeeding in this objective, he began to continue his plans with progress being made once the Nanite Reactor was set up.
However, the Consortium ultimately achieved their objective in gaining control over the Meta-Nanites. However, the process meant that their union was interrupted by Rex Salazar which divided the nanites power amongst the Consortium members. Through the help of the Meta-Nanites, Rex managed to use the Nanite Reactor to reprogram all the nanites around the world and began the process of reversing the E.V.O mutations. Ultimately, the goal of Caesar Salazar and Gabriel Rylander was completed as a result of this action.
