History
The Spider Seekers were fast moving hovering drones that were constructed by Spencer Smythe. They were built after Smythe was employed by Norman Osborn to find and capture Spider-Man. Unknown to anyone else, Osborn himself was blackmailed and under the control of the Kingpin of crime. Spencer Smythe agreed to this venture in exchange for a hover chair for his son Alistair Smythe who lost the use of his legs due to a laboratory explosion. Whilst at Oscorp, Smythe designed a series of drones that could find and track Spider-Man. Once complete, he deployed them into Manhattan where they found Spider-Man and attacked him but were destroyed. Though Osborn called this a failure, Spencer stated that the Spider Seekers were not meant to defeat Spider-Man but to test the tracking program. Thus, he unveiled his true creation to capture Spider-Man which was the Spider-Slayer with the first such machine designated as the Black Widow.
