Over 20 years ago, he led the surviving forces of the Hydra Bruderschaft that sought to re-establish themselves. Strucker came to learn of a secret cache of gold that could be accessed by a young Jewish girl named Gabrielle Haller. Thus, he sent his forces to kidnap her where he had the girl open the doorway to the gold cache that was hidden in a cave. They were then attacked by Charles Xavier and his friend Magnus both of whom were Mutants where they had come to free their friend Gabrielle.
