Biography
Thomas Gideon
He remained as an apprentice until the Shaper of Worlds seemingly abandons him for reasons unknown. Alone, Glorian sought to chart his own independent path and create a great work on Godthab Omega. However, he lacked the power needed to create the change to reality he wanted namely making a pristine beautiful city. Thus, he manipulated Gamora into battling Ronan the Accuser so that their fight would generate enough power that he could manipulate into reshaping the world. The transformation was interrupted by the insectoid forces Annihilus whose Annihilation Wave had begun to invade the universe from their home in the Negative Zone. (Annihilation: Ronan v1 #3)
Overview
Personality and attributes
Powers and abilities
Though a reality shifter, he was not able to impact huge changes on reality the way the Shaper of Worlds was able to accomplish with his power. Instead, Glorian could only restructure pockets of reality to his desires within a 10 Earth mile radius. These changes remained in place for a full day and though they felt real their transformation was only temporary with them reverting once the time had passed. Despite that, the time it was transformed as still real and could be dangerous to others. (Annihilation: Ronan v1 #3)
Glorian was able to travel to other worlds and even universes by creating 'hyperspatial bridges' or 'rainbow bridges'. (Annihilation: Ronan v1 #3)
Notes
- Glorian was created by Gerry Conway and John Buscema where he made his first appearance in Fantastic Four v1 #34 (January, 1965).
In other media
Television
- In Avengers Assemble, the character makes a guest appearance in the episode "Hulk's Day Out" where he was voiced by actor Robin Atkin Downes. He was shown to be a cosmic being who was famed as being a master craftsman and resided in another dimension within a rainbow. Glorian was shown to be an ally and a friend of the Hulk with the two meeting at an unspecified point. The two engaged in a friendship based on how different their lives were as Glorian prized himself on building whilst the Hulk was known to destroy things. During their friendship, Hulk would often tell Glorian of his activites and interaction with the other Avengers such as the constant tests of strength with Thor. Glorian was responsible for creating numerous glass figurines that the Hulk kept in his quarters at Avengers Tower. At one point, Hulk went to Glorian's realm to gather a glass figurine whereupon he got into a fight with Thor with the two taking their battle to the Blue Area of the Moon. Once there, the pair were attacked by a Badoon Cylek and Hulk was launched back to Earth to warn the Avengers but lost his memory in the process. This led to the Avengers retracing his steps which led them to Glorian's realm where he greeted them. At that point, the Hulk vomited out a miniature Cylek offspring that he accidently ingested during his earlier battle on the Moon with the creature growing rapidly and attacking the superheroes. This was until an angry Hulk ripped it apart as he feared the battle would destroy the beautiful place that Glorian had constructed. Afterwards, they bid farewell to Glorian who was excited as seeing the battle.
