Biography
Malthael was one of the Angels of the High Heavens where he became an Archangel that sat on the Angiris Council as the Aspect of Wisdom.
Long ago, a particular battle saw Malthael and the council battle against the demonic hordes of Hell in Pandemonium. Once there, the Aspect of Wisdom worked in tandem with his comrades in battling Diablo's army. The Prime Evil had laid a trap for the angelic council who managed to defeat the Lord of Terror where they decided to imprison him. However, the fiery temper of Imperius caused him to slay Diablo thus beginning a fracture within the council.
The theft of the Worldstone by Inarius had a notable impact on Malthael who started to become a more brooding and gaunt figure.
Overview
Personality and attributes
When on the Angiris Council, he held the position of Archangel and was known as the Aspect of Wisdom. He was also known as the Silent Angel. After his fall, he claimed the title of being the Aspect of Death.
He was once the calm guiding hand of wisdom among the angelic council but the loss of the Worldstone caused him to abandon the High Heavens thus fracturing the Angiris Council.
Malthael believed that the only way of bring an end to the conflict was through eliminating mankind as this was the only means of bringing peace. He ultimately concluded that the only way of bringing an end to evil was to kill the Nephalem.
Powers and abilities
As the Aspect of Death, he gained the power over Death itself allowing him to control all aspects of the soul that he was able to manipulate to suit his needs. Malthael was shown to be able to rip out and absorb the souls of living beings in order to increase his own strength.
After becoming the Aspect of Death, Malthael came to hold a number of servants that served him with these being the Reapers.
