History
The Avatars were a team of supervillains that were gathered together by the Mandarin.
This team of minions were dispatched to attack Hong Kong where they were defeated by Force Works leading to them retreating from the battlefield. Despite this being the case, War Machine and Iron Man were both captured by the Mandarin where the Avatars witnessed the heroes being tortured by their master. They later failed to stop the Century's attack leading to the Mandarin entering the battle himself to slay War Machine along with the Century. (Force Works v1 #6)
Misty Knight and her team of Heroes for Hire battled the Avatars where they defeated them in New York City. (Heroes for Hire v2 #1)
Overview
In appearance, the Avatars were a team of minions that served the Avatars. They were also known as the Hands of the Mandarin. (Iron Man v1 #309)
