Biography
Michael Christian Amar was a male human born in the modern age where he grew up to become a doctor. He began to operate within the twin cities of Central City and Keystone City where he was seemingly a mild-mannered doctor. However, in reality, he was a serial killer where over a period of eight months he was responsible for at least 50 murders with few ties that placed him on the crime scene. Nine years ago in the Winter, he broke into a home where he killed one woman and was ready to kill another when the police arrived at the scene. Michael responded by attacking one of the officers who in turn opened fire on him. They were able to save the remaining victim with Amar still being alive though badly injured. Afterwards, he was taken to trial to stand in judgement for his actions where forensic analyst Barry Allen gave his first testimony against Dr. Amar and proved his guilt in a significant number of murders. The overwhelming evidence against Amar led to him being declared guilty by the judge who sentenced him to death by lethal injection. He was later placed in Iron Heights Penitentiary where he remained there for years. Murmur was noted to had hated the talks of the guards and had even bitten off the tongue of one of them. He also lamented how his own inability to stay quiet led to him being convicted for his crimes with Murmur cutting out his own tongue as well as sewing his mouth shut. In time, he came to be transferred to the Pipeline that was a wing for Metahumans powered criminals within Iron Height where he came to be among its the residents that had been incarcerated there the longest. Overview
Personality and attributes
He took the name Murmur due to the murmuring sounds he used to make when he committed his murders. (The Flash: Iron Heights v1 #1)
Amar said he felt the need to stop the 'noise' which led to him murdering innocents in order to silence the sounds that bothered him. He did this by first cutting out the tongues of his victims. Michael could not be identified by his blood at the crime scenes as it did not respond to any tests. Ultimately, he was regarded as the killer that could not stay quiet which led to him cutting out his own tongue and sewing his mouth shut. (The Flash: Iron Heights v1 #1)
Powers and abilities
A curious aspect of Murmur was that his blood had anti-bodies that made him immune to almost anything. (The Flash: Iron Heights v1 #1)
He had developed the Frenzy that was a mutated respiratory syncytial virus that attacked the lungs and throat. It ate away at the flesh from the inside out where it turned it into a gelatin-like sludge that caused the infected to choke to death. Initially, the infected began to experience symptoms of sore throats and dry mouths as the virus progressed in development. One of the issues regarding the virus was that it mutated once it infected the human body that made the creation of a vaccine a difficult task. Murmur was able to tailor it to travel through different vectors such as putting it into the water supply to infect people. Due to his abnormal blood, he was immune to the effecs of his own Frenzy virus. (The Flash: Iron Heights v1 #1)
