Biography
Christopher Pike
The ship then detected the presence of another Red Angel sighting with this one manifesting outside Federation space. Scans revealed that it was coming from the planet Kaminar that was the homeworld of Saru. After a quick briefing, the crew were informed of the Great Balance along with the relationship between the subservient Kelpians and the technologically isolationist Ba'ul. General Order 1 was determined to not fully apply as the primitive Kelpians were aware of the existence of other races but that contact with the world was at the discretion of the captain. In this time, Pike came to notice that the post-Vahar'rai Saru showed more aggressive traits and was resentful of the Great Balance placed on his people by the Ba'ul. Upon arriving in the system, the U.S.S. Discovery was not contacted by the inhabitants of Kaminar. Thus, Captain Pike authorised a beam down by Michael Burnham though Saru objected at not being chosen for the assignment. However, Pike grew concerned at Saru's more violent temperament and believed that he was a poor choice considering he was in exile from his home planet. Despite this being the case, Burnham requested Saru's aid in engaging with the native Kelpians. (DIS: The Sound of Thunder)
