History

The Iscariot Organization (Japanese: イスカリオテ機関, Hepburn: Isukariote Kikan?) was a secret organization that existed within the Vatican which was more officially known as Vatican Section XIII (ヴァチカン第13課 Vachikan Daijūsanka?). It was known to had existed for an unknown length of time with it predating the creation of the Hellsing Organization by centuries. The organization was named after the Apostle who betrayed Jesus Christ namely Judas Iscariot. This organization consistly largely of Catholics and was based in Rome where they conducted their operations.

Renaldo came to meet with Alexander Anderson informing him about a vampire attack on Badrick with the priest dispatched on his mission. During the course of his assignment, he encountered the Hellsing Organization and their elite operative Alucard where after a brief battle the two groups parted without any further conflict. After the Valentine brothers attack, Enrico Maxwell had a meeting with the Renaldo and Anderson in order to discuss the threat posed by Millennium. Under Maxwell's orders, Iscariot was dispatched to conduct a massive attack on London whilst Millennium made its move with their paladins looking to eliminate both them and the Hellsing Organization.

Overview

In appearance, Iscariot was an organization tied to the Roman Catholic organization and was pat of the Vatican where it was designated as Section XIII. The agency was a special operations unit of the Vatican which believed themselves to be God's divine instruments on the Earth and stated that they did not retreat from a challenge by heretics. Being a secret section of the Vatican that was not supposed to exist, Iscariot was charged with the duty to actively pursue and exterminate any demonic, vampiric or heretical. Their puritan beliefs meant that they despised the use of such creatures as agents which made them a natural foe as well as rival to the Hellsing Organization. Unlike Hellsing who only eliminated vampires that were a threat to the Church of England or the British Crown, Iscariot would eliminate any vampire they came across as they believed such creatures were an abomination before God.

The elite agents of this organization were known as Paladins who were sent into the field to eliminate demonic threats to the world. Its ranks included the most powerful agents that the Vatican commanded which consisted of professional exorcists as well as assassins that were trained to deal with heathens and heretics. They were fanatical to the point that they believed themselves to be a true servant of God. Some of their agents such as Anderson were known to had experienced genetic engineering and other advanced experimental technologies such as becoming living regenerators with the singular purpose of enhancing their performance as well as making them living weapons to combat their foes.

In addition, Section XIII commanded a number of seemingly independent military forces such as the Knights of the Sagely Brethren, the Knights of the Order of Calatrava La Nueva, the Knights of the Military Order of St. Stefano di Toscana, and the Knights of the Order of Malta. One of its fellow branches within the Vatican was Matthew that was designated as Vatican Section III.

They were capable of conducting experiments on its members to enhance them such as being able to turn a person into a Regenerator.
