Biography

Origin

Amelia C. Voght was a red-haired female Mutant who was raised in America in the modern age. As a Mutant, she came to fear the distrust and hatred for her kind causing her to leave America. During her travels, she ended up in India where she served as a nurse at a hospital. In that time, she treated many people and stated that she often checked in on American patients in order to reminisce about the United States. Among those admitted into the hospital was Charles Xavier who was brought to the hospital for an incident in Tibet. The doctors informed him that he could no longer walk again causing him to fall into depression. It was during this time that Amelia came in as his nurse where she was professional but flirted with him. During the course of his therapy, she helped him cope with his new condition and the pair started a romantic relationship. This progressed where they eventually moved into a two-bedroom apartment where they stayed for two months. One day, she came upon Xavier who was sleeping after working on plans for a machine that could detect Mutants. This led to Voght incorrectly surmising that Xavier was studying her as an experiment and she felt betrayed where she was ready to lash out against him. It was then that she felt him telepathically speaking into her mind thus revealing that Charles also was a Mutant. This resulted in the pair remaining together and even strengthened the relationship they had with one another. Afterwards, she learnt that Xavier had a dream where he wanted Mutants to publically reveal themselves and live in peaceful co-existence with humanity. Though Amelia admired his noble intentions, she felt that this was foolhardy with his plans only exposing their kind and that they should remain hidden from mankind. Despite these different stances, she remained with him and hoped that she could convince him to abandon this plan. Eventually, Xavier decided to move back to America to his late fathers estate where he intended to continue his plans. Amelia continued to help him despite her opposition where in one instance she agreed for Charles to help Jean Grey as a child therapist but not to recruit her for his future mission. Eventually, Xavier took in an orphaned boy named Scott Summers who was allowed to stay at his mansion. It was then that Voght decided that she could not continue further as Charles was not assembling a team of Mutants that would become his X-Men. She had gathered her personal things and was ready to leave where she told Charles that him bringing together a team would lead to similar bands of Mutants forming among other groups that in turn would bring about a genetic arms race. Amelia was ready to leave the mansion when she found out that Charles had considered using telepathy to compel her to remain but decided against it with this shocking and hurting Voght's feelings as she departed the estate. (Uncanny X-Men v1 #309)

She came to work as a nurse at the Sacred Heart Hospital in Santa Cruz when she was called in to check a patient in the emergency room. Amelia quickly came to realise this was Wolverine who alongside the X-Men were seeking her out on the whereabouts of her former Acolyte members as they had allied with the Marauders. Voght transformed into mist and attempted to escape through a vent only to be stopped outside the hospital by Storm through her control of the wind. She revealed that she wanted to protect the X-Men from the Marauders which was why she was escaping but relented and gave them the information they were looking for about the Acolytes. After the establishment of the nation of Krakoa, she was one of many Mutants that came to reside on the living island that was the home of their people. During this time, the country helped re-form S.W.O.R.D. and funded its operations along with providing Mutants to help man its space station. This saw Amelia Voght being assigned to the Peak where she was one of a team of teleporters that made up the Six. (S.W.O.R.D. v2 #1) Director Abigail Brand came to task Voght with a secret mission alongside Khora of the Burning Heart who was a newly recruited Mutant from Arakko. The pair were tasked with eliminating the heads of the rival clans of the Zn'rx race across the galaxy as the war-like race were engaged in a devastating Snarkwar with one another. Amelia used her powers to teleport near the leaders of the individual clans whilst Khora used her skills as an assassin to eliminate them. They succeeded in killing all except for one who a radical peaceful modernist with Brand intending for them to change Zn'rx galactic policy and to owe debt to Krakoa for bringing them to power.
