Biography
Origin
Sawyer used to live in Star City where she joined the police force and came to rise to the position of lieutenant. She was nearly thirty years old when her superior Captain James Buchanan Sawyer embarked on a relationship with her and propose to Maggie. The two got married but had constant arguments at home with the only thing they had in common being police officers. Despite that, she got herself pregnant with the couple having a daughter together who they named Jamie Sawyer. For a time, the home life was peaceful but then the arguments started happening again with Maggie's husband not even coming home as a result. It was in this time that she determined the truth about herself that she was a lesbian and came out to her husband. He was said to had not taken the news well and their marriage came to quickly dissolve with the pair divorcing a year ago. The matter later went to court over the custody of their daughter with the judge concluding that Maggie was not a fit mother. As a result, James was granted full custody and Maggie did not appeal the decision as she did not want her daughter to go through hell from a lengthy court battle. She then decided to leave Star City and start her life over in Metropolis with her starting over at the police force in that city. (Superman v2 #15)
She and Major Crimes Unit arrived at the scene in central Metropolis during a public from the armed gunman called Bloodsport. Twenty five people were killed in the assault with Sawyer reporting the details to Superman. (Superman v2 #4)

Following the Flashpoint, a new version of reality was created with a different history of events.

Previously, she came to be involved with her superior who was police captain James Buchanan Sawyer. The two had a relationship with him proposing to Maggie and the two becoming married as a result. However, their relationship was filled with arguments and ultimately the marriage dissolved after Maggie came to terms with the fact that she was a lesbian. From her prior relationship, she came to have a daughter by the name of Jamie Sawyer. (Superman v2 #15)
