Biography

Boodikka

She came to serve as a soldier for fortune throughout much of the galaxy. (Green Lantern v3 #20)

Chaselon of Barrio III came to recruit her to attend a gathering of beings chosen to join the re-constituted Green Lantern Corps. During this time, she came to meet Hal Jordan where she decided to test her strength against him. At first, Jordan felt that she lacked discipline and intended to reject her admission but Kilowog convinced him to allow her to join as a Green Lantern. (Green Lantern v3 #20)

Boodikka would quickly prove to be a skilled power ring wielder and a worthwhile addition to the Green Lantern Corps. Nevertheless, her problem with authority would pose a continuing problem in the Corps. She was often at odds with Kreon of Tebis another new recruit to the Corps. As the former Chieftain of the Teban battle fleet he was used to discipline and military precision. Their infighting had even jeopardized Oa and the Guardians during a Qwardian invasion, an invasion which was averted thanks to the last-minute efforts of Guy Gardner and his Yellow Power Ring he stole from Sinestro's corpse. (Guy Gardner Reborn v1 #3)

Boodikka and a number of other Green Lanterns had not really perished at Green Lantern’s hand, but ended up in the clutches of the Manhunters. (Green Lantern v4 #3) Tomar-Tu escaped the Manhunters and piloted a ship towards Earth, crash-landing at Edwards Air Force base. The Corps ministered to his injuries, and Hal hoped that the other Lanterns he seemingly killed were still alive. He still felt tremendous guilt over his actions under the influence of Parallax. Hal and Guy traveled to Biot, and found Boodikka and the other Lanterns being jailed by the Manhunters to power their technology. Hal revived the Lanterns he thought he’d killed. They attacked him, but Kreon realized something was wrong when he refused to fight back. He apologized for betraying them, convincing them he was on their side, and they learned of the presence of more Corps members taken by the Manhunters for information and a connection to the Central Power Battery, including Arisia. Cyborg unleashed his Highmasters on the Lanterns, killing Kreon in the battle, and as the Lost Lanterns fought back Hal concentrated on freeing Arisia. Kreon’s ring chose Boodikka as a successor, and she used it to make a green energy replacement for the hand Hal cut off. She made it clear she blamed Hal for Kreon’s death, and she’d always consider him an enemy. Hal and Arisia took over a Highmaster unit and used it to destroy Biot and the Manhunters, although Hal was positive the Cyborg could have survived. The Lost Lanterns were returned to Oa, and they told Hal they were grateful that he’d saved them, but that didn’t change the past, and they should steer clear of each other. (Green Lantern v4 #12)

Boodikka and the Lost Lanterns were on Oa when the planet was assaulted by the Sinestro Corps. After a valiant fight many Green Lanterns were killed, and the Sinestro Corps fled with sciencell prisoners Superboy Prime and Cyborg Superman as their newest recruits. (Green Lantern: Sinestro Corps Special v1 #1) The Corps began picking up the pieces after the assault on Oa, and when Hal Jordan tried to attend to the wounded Tomar-Tu, Boodikka and the Lost Lanterns told him to back off. They told him they’d see one of their own die before asking him or any other human for help. Kilowog stepped in, reminding them that now was not the time to keep opening old wounds. The Lost Lanterns were sent to Qward to rescue Kyle Rayner from the Sinestro Corps. (Green Lantern v4 #21) The Lost Lanterns traveled to Qward to retrieve Ion, and found Hal Jordan being overwhelmed by the Sinestro Corps. Parallax told Hal that the GLC despised him and had abandoned him, but Ke’Haan said that although they hated Hal they’d never abandon a fellow Lantern. Boodikka, however, was convinced that Hal was still a traitor and secretly in league with the Sinestro Corps. Parallax killed Jack T. Chance, and when Boodikka tried to use lethal force her ring shut down. Hal and the remaining Lost Lanterns retreated to Qward’s underground catacombs. They split up, with Ke’Haan and his allies attempting to locate the imprisoned Ion, while Hal was joined by Graf Toren and Tomar-Tu in rescuing Guy and John Stewart. They found their comrades, but were confronted by Lyssa Drak, keeper of the Book of Parallax, who was in the process of breaking their friends and making them give in to fear. (Green Lantern v4 #22)

Following the Sinestro Corps War, the Guardians of the Universe established a new unit within the ranks of the Green Lantern Corps to uphold the Ten New Laws of the Book of Oa with these being the Alpha Lantern Corps. Boodikka, along with the Green Man, Kraken, Chaselon and Varix volunteered for service in the Alpha Lanterns. Boodikka underwent extensive cybernetic reconfigurations so that she could interface directly with the Book of Oa. (Green Lantern v4 #27)

She was dispatched by the Guardians to survey the loss of the world of New Krypton which was when she encountered Kara Zor-El. The two began to speak about the destruction of her people when they were attacked by Doomsday. Alpha Lantern Boodikka was badly injured with Supergirl saving her and taking her to the Moon where they were pursued by Doomsday who was hunting people connected to Superman. It was revealed that the Cyborg Superman Hank Henshaw was actually hidden within Boodikka's cybernetics and was attempting to escape the monstrous supervillain that was pursuing him. (Justice League of America v2 #55)
