Biography
Hamilcar Barcas (Japanese: (ハミルカル·バルカス, Hepburn: Hamirukaru Barukasu) was originally an ordinary human born over 400 years ago. During that time, he was an old European merchant embarked on an ocean voyage to visit the New World where he wanted to see those virgin lands before he died. However, the ship was lost in a storm and he came to be the only survivor where he washed ashore on an unknown island. Still shocked, he wandered aimlessly across the island, soon encountering what, to his eyes, appeared as monsters - a giant dragonfly, a titanic brachiosaurus, and most shocking of all, perhaps: a quartet of comely girls, who were revealed to be mermaids. Fleeing in panic, he came upon a human-style building: an immense temple, untouched by the centuries. Entering as in a trance, the old man reached an inner sanctum, and there, amidst many such structures, a transparent, organic bubble, containing the dormant form of what appeared as a nude, young man. Sensing that this was a being with far more power than he could even imagine, humbled and awed by the aura of command that radiated from him even in his comatose state, Barcas fell to his hands and knees in reverence. Something that took place while he was inside the main room of the temple, whether it was the shock of having someone new there after so much time spent alone, or something else entirely, awakened the sleeping Zoalord. Archanfel, seemingly curious about the newcomer to his sanctuary island, took the old man in and transformed him into the first of what would eventually be a group of twelve Zoalords. He then gave the former human a charge: to seek out ten other men like himself, and thereby to create a group capable of overseeing the future transformation of mankind. known in full. This chain of events led to the creation of the Chronos Corporation to help implement their plans for the world. They began to secretly evolve humans into their combat forms which were the Zoanoids who were seeded across the world. Among the last subjects chosen to join the Council of Zoalords was Richard Guyot with Dr. Barcas himself being involved in his optimization at Chronos's Arizona headquarters. At this time though, several of the prototype Zoalords developed to perfect Guyot's form were broken free and staged a rebellion that was spearheaded by Professor Shinichiro Yamamura. Though only prototypes, they possessed incredible power greater than any Zoanoid stationed at the site. The Arizona Incident was only stopped by the arrival of the Council of Zoalords who put down the prototypes that were all killed. Richard Guyot himself had been unaware of this entire event as he was still in the final stages of his optimization and upon his emergence the crisis had ended. Once the ranks of Zoanoids had been sufficiently filled, the plans that they had made so long ago could finally be implemented.
Overview
Personality and attributes
In appearance, Hamilcar Barcas was seemingly an elderly human man with a bald cap whilst long grey hair was flowing from his sides. He had a grey beard and moustache with his most distinct feature being the zoa-crystal that resided in the centre of his forehead. He was also known as Barcas the Elder (バルカス翁 Barukasu Ō) to the ranks of Chronos.
It was shown that he had a sadistic side to him as he had no issue kidnapping Sho Fukomachi's father and secretly turning him into Enzyme II to be used against his own son as part of a trap.
Powers and abilities
Originally, Hamilcar Barcas was an ordinary human being who by adulthood had become a skilled merchant.
Upon meeting Archanfel, Barcas came to be the first human to be transformed into a Zoalord. This saw the implantation of a Zoacrystal in his forehead with this being visible to others. Unlike others though, Hamilcar never demonstrated the ability to transform into a Zoalord form. However, he possessed other traits of a Zoalord namely the powerful to emit thought waves capable of controlling Zoanoids. His thought waves were easily able to overpower those of a prototype Zoalord and overcoming them. With these powers, he could not only communicate with a Zoanoid over great distances but only biologically command their bodies to obey him regardless of their intention. This included causing humans optimized to suddenly transform and even to kill themselves.
A prominent scientist, Dr. Barcas was the best mind in Zoanoid research. He was responsible for designing and creating the first Hyperzoanoids. In addition, it was his work that led to completing the final work on most of the Zoalords.
After being turned into a Zoalord, Hamilcar Barcas became a trusted ally of Alkhanphel where he became a member of the Council of Twelve. Barcas also became a founding member of the Chronos Corporation and alongside the ranks of the other newly created Zoalords they stood within the shadows as its board of directors.

- Hamilcar Barcas was created by Yoshiki Takaya where he featured in the setting of the Bio Booster Armor Guyver universe.
- His name was taken from Hamilcar Barcas or Barca, the father of Carthaginian warlords Hannibal and Hasdrubal who lived in the third century BC.
