Biography

Guyot sought to attain the Guyver Unit for himself.

Richard Guyot (Japanese: リヒャルト·ギュオー, Hepburn: Riharuto Gyuō) was a male human who came to live in the modern age. He later came to join the ranks of the Chronos Corporation and became a high-ranking member who became privy to a great number of information about the organizations history as well as that of the Zoanoids. He was present during the uncovering of Relic's Point and assigned a team of scientists to study the Guyver Unit upon its recovery from the Relic. It was during that time that he learnt of the full potential of the Guyver Units as well as its ability to enhance a host. As he was selected to become a member of Chronos's Board of Directors, it meant that he was going to be transformed and optimized by none other than Doctor Hamilcar Barcas. Once transformed, he learnt that if he equipped a Guyver Unit he would be an extremely powerful being that would beyond the mental influence of the Creators themselves. Thus, he secretly planned to gain one of the units in order to kill the other Zoalords and rule the Earth as a god. After the scientists uncovered these findings, he eliminated them in order to keep hie secret. Unknown to him, one scientist survived which was Professor Yamamura who served as a consultant and thus escaped the purge. Yamamura learnt of the dangers posed by Guyot and plotted against him. When Guyot was at Arizona, he began the Optimization process when Professor Yamamura began his rebellion using four prototype Zoalord bodies that were the basis for Guyot's final form. The test bodies caused a great deal of destruction as they possessed the powers of a Zoalord and attempted to find Richard Guyot and kill him whilst he was within his optimization tank. However, this failed when the other Zoalords intervened and Guyot's secret plans were still hidden. Upon his emergence from the Optimization tank, Guyot learnt of the rebellion which had caused a great deal of destruction and that the prototype Zoalords were later disposed off. At the time, he was unaware that Professor Yamamura had learnt of Guyot plan and the reason for the rebellion and targeting of himself remained a mystery.

Afterwards, the Guyver Units were stolen from Relics Point by a test type who wanted to trade them to his benefactor in exchange to be turned back into an ordinary human. Chronos forces from the Japanese Branch were dispatched to recover the units but an explosion scattered them. Genzō Makishima was responsible for the recovery of the units though only one was retrieved where it bonded with Oswald A. Lisker. The other two units came to be bonded as well where one fell into the hands of a teenager named Sho Fukamachi. All attempts to retrieve the Guyver Units had failed leading to Guyot travelling to Japan to personally take charge of the matter. He came to take his Hyperzoanoid bodyguard Zerbebeuth with him as part of his own attempt at recovering the missing units. Taking charge of the operation, he stripped Genzō Makishima of his position and took his adoptive son Agito Makishima as his aide. Guyot then decided to transform the former Director into a new special type of Zoanoid called Enzyme who was designed to be a Guyver Killer. Using this Zoanoid, he was successful in gaining Guyver I's control medal which he ordered back to base in order to analyse it. He was quite aware that the third Guyver was still active and was preparing an army of Guyver Killer Enzyme I's for the task. What he did not expect, however, was Guyver I's regeneration which caused havoc in his base while at the same time, Guyver III attacked the optimization chambers killing the Enzyme units. Seeing the destruction of the base at hand, Guyot attempted to flee and was confronted by the reborn Guyver I and his friend Tetsuro that Guyot had kidnapped.

On the rooftop of the Chronos Japanese branch HQ, Tetsuro demanded to know what Guyot meant about Humans being the basis of bioweapons for the Zoanoids. Guyot decided to answer and explained Humanitys origins as the creations of the Creators with Chronos's goal at fulfilling mankinds destiny and evolution. He was then confronted by the mysterious Guyver III to which an angry Guyot demanded to know who he was though the black Guyver simply said to be called "Zeus" which left the Chronos commander confused. Guyot attempted to flee in his helicopter which exploded due to device placed by Guyver III. It seemed that Guyot had met his end.

Richard Guyot surviving the assassination on his life and meeting Agito Makishima.

However, once Agito Makishima returned to his home, he found a perfectly healthy Guyot waiting for him. The Chronos Commander had survived the assassination attempt on his life and continued to lead his forces in the capture of the Guyvers now that Guyver II had been destroyed at the Japanese branch headquarters. He summoned the Lost Unit to serve as his bodyguards while he tasked Agito with the capture of Guyver I's family. While at the Makishima home, Guyot came under attack by Guyver III which led to a fight between the two. Attempting to crush Guyot, Guyver III quickly realized that the Chronos Commander was matching him in strength which highlighted his non-Human origins. Guyver III was forced to retreat when the Lost Unit came to save their Commander. Guyot tasked the three commandoes to capture Guyver I though this was only a distraction to allow Richard to capture Guyver I's family and friends.

Guyot meeting fellow Zoalord and chief Chronos scientist Hamilcar Balcus.

With Guyver I's friends and father captured, the group were placed within Relic's Point where they were part of a plan to ambush Sho. Furthermore, Guyot summoned Agito Makishima to the base and once out of sight, he transformed into Guyver III to free Sho's friends. But this was all part of a trap made by Guyot and Hamilcar Balcus with the former suspecting Agito of being the Guyver III. The trap was sprung when Guyver III took Sho's father and friends into the underground tunnels where they were ambushed by the Hyperzoanoid Team 5. Despite his prowess, he was overwhelmed by the enhanced Zoanoids and was almost killed until Guyver I arrived and managed to get them to escape. Though the trap failed. the Hyperzoanoids managed to recapture Sho's father. Guyot then bore witness to Balcus's attempt at turning Sho's father into a secret Hyperzoanoid based on Enzyme. When the two Guyvers attacked Relic's Point to recover Sho's dad, they were ambushed by half of the Hyperzoanoid Team 5 while the other half were dispatched to one of the Makishima hideouts nearby where their friends were. Enzyme was also activated and the father battled the son until Guyver I was damaged leaving him unconscious and the Unit itself taking control of his actions leading to his fathers death. Balcus's forces also failed to capture the Guyvers friends due to the intervention of a mysterious individual who displayed Zoalord level abilities.

Zoalord Guyot releasing his gravity crusher attack against the Guyvers.

Guyot then became aware that the individual was one of the test type Zoalords used to perfect his own body and that the individual knew Richards plot in attaining ultimate power by capturing one of the Guyver Units. Rather then risk being discovered, Guyot decided to intervene himself. Taking three Enzymes rushed from their Optimization, Guyot attacked and nearly effortlessly defeated Guyver III and the Proto-Zoalord Mister Murakami, destroying one of the Zoalords arms in the process. Though the Enzymes managed to iverwhelm Guyver III, they began to die in mid-combat as the rushed nature of their Optimization meant that their mutations were unstable. This provided the distraction for Mister Murakami to blind Guyot temporarily while Guyver III used his megasmasher on him - seemingly killing the Chronos Commander. However, Richard managed to survive though he was injured but this simply fueled his anger as he decided to unleash his full power where he created a powerful gravity attack that ripped apart the mountain battlefield they were which seemed to have killed Guyots enemies. But the strain of the attack was too much on his body and he reverted back to his Human form, unconscious whilst a Chronos team were dispatched to recover him.

Richard Guyot rebelling against Alkanphel.

The Zoalord was returned to Relic's Point where he was being treated by Doctor Balcus and Doctor Shirai who were healing him within the Chronos base. Once he recuperated, he suffered a type of seizure with power vibrating around the base when he encountered the Relic which left him confused on what happened. Unknown to him, Murakami and his comrades had survived and were being sheltered within Relic's Point by a team of scientists. Due to the fact that Murakami was Guyot's test type body, their powers had gone in sync and resulted in the unstable energy build up. However, Guyot was not aware of this and believed it to be a random mistake due to proximity to the Relic. He later went to Doctor Shirai to discover if the scientist had found the secrets of the Unit Remover; a Creator device designed to remove a Guyver Unit from their host. As this continued, a powerful being arrived within the base which Guyot immediately recognized to be Alkanphel who had discovered his plans. Transforming, Guyot began to flee deeper into Relic's Point whilst trying to delay the Supreme Zoalord but all his attacks were effortlessly defeated whilst Guyot massacred Zoanoid after Zoanoid in order to escape into the deepest level of the facility. Trapped, he showed defiance Alkanphel who told him that he was nothing compared to his power. Calming himself down, he made use of his black hole attacking hoping that the deep nature of the facility would trap and force Alkanphel into the singularity. Once Alkanphel was apparently swallowed by the black hole it seemed that Guyot's victory was completed, however, he began to lose control over the black hole which was threatening to consume everything but a reluctant Doctor Balcus used his powers to stop the singularity. The sheer strain of opening and closing the black hole tired Guyot who seemingly fell down the facility.

Zoalord Guyot holding Unit Remover and the defeated Mr Murakami .

He crashed at the lower levels where the Relic was and coincidently discovered the Guyvers, Mister Murakami and their comrades. He quickly summoned the Unit Remover into his hands and tried to use it to disarm a Guyver and use the Unit to become a supreme being himself. He nearly succeeded in this goal against Makishima and managed to stun Murakami due to his powers being that of a true Zoalord allowing him to stop a proto Zoalord. However, Murakami managed to use sheer force of will to release himself from Guyot's power and battled the Zoalord whilst the Relic was flying into the air after being commanded by Sho in order to use it as an escape craft. A weakened Guyot was seemingly fatally wounded by an energy attack from Murakami and looked as if he fell to his doom. However, he survived and managed to grab onto the leg of an unaware Murakami. Due to the limited life energy of a proto Zoalord, Murakami was incapable of freeing himself from Guyot's grasp and the Zoalord commander began to mercilessly pound him into the ground in an effort to get a Guyver out in order to use the Unit Remover again. He succeeded and when Sho asked Guyot to let go of Murakami, the vicious Zoalord agreed to the terms but not before shattering his Zoa crystal thus fatally wounding him. Throwing Murakami to Guyver I as a distraction, he tried to use the Unit Remover but was distracted by Guyver III. Later, an angry Sho attempted to avenge Murakami but the battle was interrupted by the Council of Zoalords who arrived in Japan and were to prevent the capture of the Relic. Outnumbered with enemies at all sides, Guyot decided to retreat as he could not fight the Guyvers and the entire Council but stated that as long as he had the remover then he would have as many chances to get what he wanted.

As he was floating down the Relic to escape, an energy disturbance formed above him whereupon he saw a golden powered being in front of him. A surprised Guyot was unaware of who this was until it spoke to him and revealed himself to be Alkanphel who had returned from the event horizon of a black hole and turned into his Zoalord form. Alkanphel asked him where he was going which left a shocked Guyot speechless as he thought he had slain the Supreme Zoalord. He was powerless to stop Alkanphel as he mentally took control over Richard's body and removed his Zoa crystal. He then attempted to take the Unit Remover but a pressure cannon attack from Guyver III ripped open his chest and left him falling into the active Mount Minikami which seemed to have been the end of Richard Guyot.

Overview

Personality and attributes

In appearance, Richard Guyot appeared as a tall blond haired man with unusual eyes with a somewhat darker skin. He always wore a suit when not in combat and as part of a Zoalords powers; he has powerful telepathic abilities that allows him to control Zoanoids. When using this ability in his Human form, his eyes typically glowed yellow signifying their use. His Zoalord form was quite monstrous and tall in appearance with a single red Zoa crystal in his forehead which glowed when in use.

He was known to firmly believe in the view of the Chronos Corporation's 'evolution' of the Human race so that they become the true inheritors of the world as intended by the Creators. This is partially because he wishes for elites such as himself to rule the conquered Earth as a gods. He held complete confidence in his abilities and claimed to know the full extent of his powers with Guyot claiming that he was the most powerful of the Zoalords with the exception of Lord Arkanphel. His overconfidence meant that it was possible to use tricks against him and gain an advantage. In combat he showed a sadistic side and would mercilessly beat his opponents and demonstrate his superiority over them. Against a Proto Zoalord, he often showed contempt over such a foe as they were not a true Zoalord like himself. He shared a similar viewpoint to Agito Makishima due to his betrayal of Chronos.

Zoanoids were disposable assets in Guyot's mind and had no hesitation in causing them to self destruct once they achieved their goal. Servants who failed him were typically given incomplete Optimizations and had to prove their worth to him. He was quite willing to kill the wounded Enzyme I with a thought wave in order to assure the destruction of the dying Guyver I's host once it lost its control medal. Furthermore, he was also willing to send in his own troops into combat to test the Guyver and not inform them of their full range of abilities. This was evident when he sent Zerbebuth who was not told of the Guyvers various abilities. When turning against Arkanphel, he showed that he cared little for how many souls were claimed by black hole as he was determined to destroy the leader of Chronos. When told that his black hole attack would ultimately destroy him, Richard simply laughed at Balcus stating that if his attack failed - he was as good as dead and thus he intended to kill everyone as well rather than fail.

Richard Guyot in his Zoalord form.

Though this view is shared by his comrades, Guyot had a hidden agenda which was to become the sole ruler of the Earth. Early in his history, he learnt of the Guyver units and believed that if he could merge with such units then he would become the most powerful being in the planet. After the units were bonded, he made attempts to separate one from its host and had a hidden Unit Remover in his possession. When he learnt of Mr Murakami and that the proto-Zoalord knew of his plans, he made active steps to silence him but by doing so he learnt that he revealed his intentions to his fellow Zoalords especially Dr Balcus who was near him and had his own suspicions. This culminated in his open revolt against Alkanphel and after witnessing the Supreme Zoalord's power he sought to destroy him as he could not allow something that powerful to live. This was because of his sheer power which would threaten Guyot's plans for dominance of the world.

Guyot has shown a high level of hatred against two characters within the show namely Agito Makishima for betraying him as well as the Chronos Corporation and Mr Murakami. To Murakami, he often referred to him as a guinea pig and show sadistic pleasure when shattering the proto Zoalord's crystal. After his plans were revealed, he was frightened of Alkanphel and noted that he did not want a being that powerful to exist as it would threaten his plans for dominance of the world.

Powers and abilities

Guyot using his Gravity Crusher attack.

Though Richard Guyot appeared as a normal Human, he was far above them and the normal Zoanoids. Being a Zoalord, he had powerful telepathic abilities allowing him to monitor and control the progress of other Zoanoids. This ranged from commanding them to self destruct to giving simple orders. He was capable of doing this remotely and not being anywhere near where the battle was being fought and was known to see through the eyes of the Zoanoids or Hyperzoanoids that were sent into combat. Though he might appear defenseless, his strength was far greater then a Zoanoid and an equal match to a Guyver bio-boosted host to the point that he could fight them without revealing his true nature. According to the other Zoalords, Guyot's power was noted as being the most powerful of their number with the exception of Lord Arkanphel. This was only the case though if he dabbled within the forbidden heights of his abilities.

In battle engagements, Guyot was capable of transforming into his Zoalord form which appeared as a tall monstrous Humanoid. In this form, he typically wore a specially designed body armor that clinged to his body but he was capable of fighting without it. In the Zoalord form, he was much stronger and had numerous other abilities. One notable trait was that his Zoa crystal located on his forehead was capable of shattering a Proto Zoalords crystal if they were based on a test type for Guyot's body. This allowed him to emit an energy field that shattered Mr Murakami's crystal and fatally wound him. Due to the fact that Murakami was Guyot's test type, the proximity of the two had unforseen consequences with spikes in energy and a type of seizure being suffered by the two. As Guyot was a true Zoalord, he was much stronger then a Proto Zoalord and was able to nullify their telepathy on Zoanoids. He was even capable of freezing a Proto Zoalord in their tracks and prevent them from transforming though sheer force of will was able to overpower Guyot's control.

Guyot unleashing an energy attack.

Guyot's powers were different from the other Zoalords as they were gravity based in nature. This allowed him to use numerous forms of attack by altering gravity to suit his needs. He had the power to project and shoot what were Gravity Bullets from his fingers. These gravitic energy based projectiles were fired in numerous shots and easily capable of leaving horrific injuries on a a target with the strength of a Proto Zoalord. At 25% power, this attack left numerous bullet shaped scars on the body. In addition, he had the capacity of firing a powerful energy being from his Zoa crystal that had the strength to sever a persons limb with ease.

More high end abilities included the capacity of creating an energy barrier around him that was able to protect him from attacks that were as powerful as a Guyver megasmasher and even accomplish this feat when he was partially blinded by an energy attack from Mr Murakami who sent a blast into his eyes. He was very fast and capable of flying through an environment at tremendous speed. Guyot was also capable of concetrating energy into his hands and firing it at a target as well as rip through obstacles such as walls with ease. Levitation was also a notable power allowing him to float in the air or fly at high speeds.

The black hole attack.

When angered, he had two powerful attacks which were capable of causing untold amounts of destruction. The first of these was the Gravity Crusher which was a powerful energy attack that sent a devastating blast that was easily capable of ripping apart a mountain with ease and destroying all enemies near him. However, the use of this ability left him greatly weakened and he typically fell unconscious and returned to his Human form as a result. Another dangerous ability was the capacity to let loose energy from his form and concentrate it into forming a black hole. The anime had Guyot claim that it was a 7,000 exotonne quasi-black hole. This ability was incredibly dangerous and made to be a last resort as it consumed everything in its path and had the potential of going out of control with the capacity of it causing irrevocable damage to the entire planet. It required tremendous effort on Guyot's part and that of Doctor Balcus to control singularity once it was formed. Similar to the Gravity Crusher attack, the sheer power of the black hole's opening and closing left Guyot weakened to the point that he fell unconscious temporarily but remained in his Zoalord form.

A member of the Chronos Corporation, he came to be the last of the mighty Zoalords and holds the rank of Commander of Chronos. As such, he used to hold a seat among the Council of Zoalords that secretly ruled the world.

Richard Guyot arriving in Japan.
  • In The Guyver: Bio-Booster Armor, Richard Guyot appeared in the setting of the animated 12-part OVA series where he was voiced by Japanese actor Hidekatsu Shibata and by English actor Bill Kestin. Richard Guyot first appeared after the death of Inspector Lisker, Guyver II after which he quickly takes control of Chronos Corporation's Japenese Branch from Director Genzo Makishima. He would arrive with the elite Hyperzoanoid Team 5 who served as his personal bodyguards. He allowed Genzo one more chance to redeem himself by capturing the Guyver which the Japanese Branch Director unvieled his branch's latest development, the Hyperzoanoid Zerbebeuth. Guyot was amused by this as Genzo was unaware that Hyperzoanoids had already been developed but allowed Makishima his chance which ultimately failed. This was the last chance for Makishima and Guyot transformed him into a Guyver-Killer Zoanoid known as Enzyme. This creature destroyed Guyver I and stole his control medal which killed its host but not before attacking Enzyme. Seeing its purpose complete, Guyot telepathically detonated Enzyme which killed the dying host. The Control Medal was retrieved by the Chronos team and remnants of Hyperzoanoid Team 5 and taken back to the Japanese Branch headquarters. Study of the material revealed it was regenerating and Guyot hoped that it would make a new Guyver Unit to use. However, events took a disastrous turn when Guyver III infiltrated the base and began destroying the Zoanoid Optimization tanks whilst Guyver I regenerated completely and began running amok within the building. Even the Hyperzoanoid Team 5 members seemed incapable of stopping the rampaging Guyver I with most of them killed leaving Zx-Tole the only survivor. With the base almost destroyed, Guyot found himself facing against Guyver III who was determined to kill the Chronos commander. But just before he did, Neo Zx-Tole emerged and Guyot realized quickly that the Hyperzoanoid had absorbed his team mate Elegan's power making him unstable. The Hyperzoanoid, however, was determined to get revenge on the Guyvers before his death. In the midst of the struggle, Neo Zx-Tole was killed and the building destroyed which seemingly killed Guyot as it collapsed around him. However, sometime later when Aptom was killed by Guyver I, Guyot emerged from the shadows next to Hamilcar Balcus showing that he had survived the battle and had unknown plans for the future.
In the original, only Guyots telepathic abilities were shown and it was now visibly revealed that he was a Zoalord. His plans presumably involved a similar chain of events that occured in the manga and later anime.
