History
Wolfram & Hart, Attorneys at Law was an organization headed by the demonic Senior Partners who operated in the mortal plane as a law firm. Originally, the Wolf, the Ram and the Hart were a trio of minor demons during the era of the Old Ones who were said to had been barely stronger than Vampires in the demon age. (Episode: Shells)
In Los Angeles, one of its notable clients was the vampire Russell Winters who was a powerful figure in the city. He intended to prey on Cordelia Chase until he was killed by Angel. (Episode: City Of...)
A representative for the firm attended a magic auction held by the empath demon named Barney. Among the items he was selling was the captured Cordelia Chase who received visions from the Powers that Be thus making her a valuable acquisition. Mac who was the Wolfram & Hart representative managed to get enough funds authorise to outbid everyone at the auction where she intended to harvest Cordelia's eyes. However, Angel arrived at the scene and freed his staff member thus leading to another loss for the firm. (Episode: Parting Gifts)
Wolfram & Hart was representing a case on a murder case when their defence was completed destroyed by Angel after he produced a witness named Danny Marquez that implicated the firm's client of murder. This resulted in their client being sent to prison and another loss for the firm with the vampire becoming a problem for their continued operations. Lindsey MacDonald and Lilah Morgan later gained a new client named Faith who was a Slayer from Sunnydale. She was a wanted criminal with numerous counts of murder charges made against her but Wolfram and Hart were ready to represent her and even pay her for killing Angel. (Episode: Five by Five) However, instead, Angel offered her a shelter as she was struggling to come to terms with her past actions. As a result, the team of lawyers decided to have Faith eliminated with them hiring a demon for their task but the assassin was killed by his targets. Lindsey then decided to change tactics and instead leaked information on Faith's position to the police who moved to arrest her as she was a wanted fugitive. (Episode: Sanctuary)
Eventually, the Los Angeles branch of Wolfram and Hart was rebuilt and it was re-staffed with employees. After Jasmine's defeat, the recently deceased Lilah Morgan was brought back from her stay in Hell to continue her service to the Senior Partners as she had signed away her soul to them in her contract. She was sent to approach Angel and offer him along with his comrades at Angel Investigations full control over the Los Angeles branch as a reward for their actions. (Episode: Home)
There were factions within Wolfram and Hart that wanted to see the new employers destroyed but operated in secret. (Episode: Unlashed)

A conduit to the Senior Partners was an interdimensional space known as the White Room with not many knowing of its existence even amongst its employees. Once there, they encountered a conduit to the Senior Partners that imparted instructions directly to people there. (Episode: Forgiving)

Employees of the company were required to sign a standard perpetuity clause that sold their souls to the Senior Partners in the fine print. Thus, even in death, they could be summoned to continue any service deemed of them by the company. There was no means of escaping service as even destroying the physical contract simply saw it re-form back within the archives. (Episode: Home)
