Americommando (Tex Thomson)

Last identity of the superhero known as Tex Thomson and Mister America. As the Americommando, Thomson battled the Nazis behind enemy lines during World War II. After the war ended, he had a short career back in America, until he apparently died in an explosion in 1945. Elsewhere, it was revealed he retired and became the Coordinator, secret director of the Hero Hotline.

Alternate Timelines

In The Golden Age, the Americommando became the host for the Ultra-Humanite, enacting a plot against the other heroes of the time in that guise until he was discovered.

Americommando (Earth-X)

Leader of the Crusaders, a fictional team of comic-book superheroes popular on Earth-1 and Earth-X. His sidekick was Rusty, and he was armed with a shield. The villainous Silver Ghost masqueraded as the Americommando, and transformed a group of the Crusaders' young fans into duplicates of the other heroes, offering their services to capture the "villainous" Freedom Fighters when they had been framed on Earth-1. Ultimately, the Ghost's deception was revealed.

Post-Crisis

It is unknown if the character was part of Earth's fiction after the Crisis on Infinite Earths.

Americommando (Kingdom Come)

Ostensibly American-patriot hero of Magog's generation, who- with his Minutemen, troops controlled by the Braintrust- "protected" the United States from foreign threats. After the destruction of Kansas, the Americommando was among those who became even more unstable and reckless. Attacking immigrants entering the country at Ellis Island, the Americommando was defeated (and presumably captured) by the recently formed Justice League of the World.

Comments

The Earth-X Americommando was a take on Marvel's Captain America.
