Biography

Origin

Bei the Blood Moon was a female Mutant who came to reside on the living island of Arakko. (X of Swords: Stasis v1 #1) It was said that for the first 50 years of her life that she never spoke a word. On the day she spoke it was said that she levelled a mountain with the sound of her voice. Such was the devastation caused that her own warriors were lost within the rubble. (Excalibur v4 #14)

During the invasion of Otherworld, an attack was made against the Starlight Citadel with this being halted by Saturnyne who instituted a Contest of Swords between the Mutant nations of Krakoa and Arakko. A prophecy was made that predetermined the champions to fight in these with both sides gathering their warriors. In Amenth, the forces of Annihilation were dispatched to seek out their warriors and bring them into the Swordbearers of Arakko. Among the chosen was Bei who was approached by the Summoner who recruited her where she eagerly wanted to slay a worthy challenge. (X of Swords: Stasis v1 #1) After Isca the Unbeaten's match, Bei was set for her own match which was against the Krakoan named Cypher. However, their contest was not a battle but rather a wedding between her and Douglas Ramsey with points awarded determined on best performance in the ceremony. The fight was interrupted by Jubilee on-board Shogo who had been turned into a dragon and attacked the Citadel to save her friends. Bei joined the fight to save the Citadel but not before passionately kissing her husband. Ultimately, the fight was stopped by Saturnyne who decided to award a point to both Arakko and Krakoa. (Excalibur v4 #14)

At the end of the tournament, the scores between the two islands were even ahead of the final challenge; a duel between Apocalypse and his wife, Genesis possessed by the elder god Annihilation. Apocalypse gained the upper hand, causing Annihilation to seize control over its host and summon its demonic army. While her fellow swordbearers contemplated what to do, most deciding to hunt the Krakoans for sport, Bei decided to abandon their cause and save her husband. She stole Doug away from his compatriots and tried to bring him to safety, but was convinced to take him back and to stand with the Krakoan mutants against the hordes of Amenth. (Excalibur v4 #15) While the battle initially looked grim, the Krakoans managed to win through the intervention of the X-Men, Captain Britain Corps, and the Vescora. After the end of the tournament, Arakko was free from Amenth's rule and moved to Earth, yet Bei moved to Krakoa to live with her husband. (X of Swords: Destruction v1 #1)

Krakoa

An official wedding reception was held at the Green Lagoon on Krakoa for the newly wed couple. During the celebration, she was welcomed by the Krakoans and during a dance she had a passionate kiss with her husband Doug Ramsey. (New Mutants v4 #15) Afterwards, she attended the events of the Hellfire Gala that invented dignitaries and officials from around the human world. (New Mutants v4 #19)

Later on, Merlin and King Arthur enacted a plot to seize control of Avalon and rid Otherworld of mutants once and for all, Bei fought alongside Excalibur to defend Otherworld for mutantkind. (Excalibur v4 #24)

Bei was later called alongside a select group of Krakoans when Betsy Braddock returned to the island. She revealed that her Captain Britain Corps was being overwhelmed in Otherworld after King Arthur declared war against the Mutant Witchbreeds of Otherworld. This Furies being deployed to hunt their kind in the worlds of that realm. To stop them, Braddock looked to call upon fellow Mutants to help her in opposing them. Bei though was reluctant to leave her husband to fight in this war. Ultimately though, she agreed to join them and accompanied Captain Britain Betsy Braddock, Rachel Summers, Gambit, Richtor, Shatterstar, Meggan and the still dragonic Shogo. They arrived in Otherworld to save some Witchbreed being targeted by Furies with Kylun joining the newly formed the Knights of X. (Knights of X v1 #1)

She was by her husband's side as he looked to create poetry written in the Krakoan language. (X-Men Unlimited Infinity Comic v1 #42) Afterwards, Doug Ramsey responded to an incident where a Mutant that took the form of language had come onto the island and began infecting hosts. In the process, Banshee was infected and Ramsey attempted to prevent him from using his power which would have infected everyone on the island. This resulted in Doug being infected in turn and rendered comatose. Bei was present in the Healing Gardens by her husband where she even volunteered to be host to the Mutant language to save him. Warlock came to determine that the comatose Doug Ramsey's hand was seemingly wanting to write something where he became a quill. It was then that in a coma-state that Cypher began writing the new Mutant language in a book whilst Bei and Cecilia Reyes waited nearby. Doug then awoke completely recovered having penned the newest language of Krakoa. (X-Men Unlimited Infinity Comic v1 #43)
