History

The Cabal as it was also known as a secret organization that was originally founded in 700 AD and was a secret society of collectors that sent its agents into the world to capture ancient beings of power which included unique species of Abnormals. Since those early years, they continued to operate into the modern age. During the middle ages, the Cabal was responsible for sending its agents to capture the Morrigan who were sealed in a crypt for later use.

The organization was believed to have died out in the 19th century but had simply reformed and went underground whereupon it infiltrated various business organizations from biotech firms to companies to defense contractors. This turned into a global world spanning organization with a great deal of power. Recently, the Morrigan were recovered by the inhabitants of the Sanctuary facility which led to the Cabal sendings its agents along with Keepers to retrieve them. After a standoff, the Morrigan willingly accepted to return to the Cabal.

They later discovered that fellow Five member Nikola Tesla was developing the means to recreate the vampire race and make them the dominant species. As this threatened their goals for the world, they dispatched a military team to kill Tesla. However, the entire unit was killed by Tesla and his brood of vampires which he had created and served him. They were also responsible for the capture of Gregory Magnus and using he unwitting scientist in an attempt to create a race of supersoldier Abnormals. Once this was complete, they wiped his mind making him think he was a poor New Yorker wandering the streets. They used his aggressive Abnormals in fight rings to test their effectiveness for the future.

The Cabal was also responsible for the deployment of the Lazarus bioweapon at Mount Logan in order to test its effects which were reported to have been better then the simulations. with Phase 1 complete, the Cabal hoped to deploy the pathogen in mass to decimate the worlds population but only after they gained the necessary immunity for their supersoldiers which required use of the vampiric Source blood. To help them in creating such an immunity, they managed to capture Ashley Magnus and alter her mind making her a Cabal agent. Once she was rescued by her father, Ashley stole the source blood and handed it over to the Cabal.

In the aftermath, Magnus sought out the Abnormal black market in Cairo in order to find out the Cabal's activities and the whereabouts of her daughter. However, her informant refused to comply until Druitt forced the Abnormal to reveal what he knew which was that the Cabal had changed Ashley into something greater than she was before whilst making her completely loyal to them. They had also deployed her on a special project with even her closest associates not having much access to her as she engaged in her mission. At Montreal in Quebec, Ashley covertly assaulted an intelligence base where she stole data from Project Montana. These individuals were genetic blank slates that allowed the Cabal to implant Ashley Magnus's enhanced abilities to create more supersoldiers based on her genetic make-up. Once created, they were deployed on a mission to completely destroy the Sanctuary Network with Helen Magnus learning of this plan after a failed attempt at recovering Ashley. Overview

The Cabalis Nocturnum were a large organization that had its reach spread from across the world. Its leader consisted of a board room of Humans who had a great deal of power and were noted for not being the forgiving type. They had dedicated scientists who had no qualms with using experiments on the innocent and ignore ethical guidelines. Groups of highly trained Human military teams were often used to enforce the Cabal's will as well as deal with threats. They also made links with criminals elements in order to use the urban cities as testing grounds for their experiments. They were noted for also the acquisition of a wide range of exotic and powerful Abnormals which were given rings which identified them as Cabal property.

The Cabal ultimately saw itself involved in a war, leading the offensive against the Abnormals and working to benefit Humanity. Thus, the Human members of the organization were in a dominant position over that of Abnormals who served as nothing more then shock troops or guards or for their various special abilities. This made them plan for the Cleansing, an event which would allow them to begin their plans of culling the Abnormal populations which they sought to accomplish through the Lazarus bioweapon. Furthermore, their genetic engineering techniques along with the knowledge of Gregory Magnus gave them the means to create an aggressive Abnormal supersoldier to be used to maintain the Cabal's order in the world that followed.

The organization made use of genetic engineering to a high degree as well as specialist Abnormal creatures. Through the use of a parasitic Scab beetle, they were able to implant it within a Human host which made the unwilling individual a pawn of the Cabal. Furthermore, the parasitic insect created changes in the body turning the host into an aggressive enhanced supersoldier.

One of the divisions within the Cabal was the Research and Logistics Division.

It was said that those who were claimed by the Cabal became effectively dead to their friends and were more of a ghost that completely served their new masters. They had a stringent policy regarding mission protocol which meant they terminated the employment of any hired operatives for any failures or breaches in their missions. In such cases, they withheld payment for the agent and ended all business transactions with them. For such failure, these agents were eliminated by their armed soldiers with a price placed on their heads if they were not terminated initially. It was claimed that no direct contact was made with the Cabal. (Episode: End of Nights, Part 1)

The Cabal gained a great deal of support through their corporate connections such as the drug companies and software divisions. One of their bases was a waystation above the United States border at Alberta with these being made to store goods that were waiting to be moved to their other facilities. Such bases were built-up operations with lots of personnel and high tech equipment. (Episode: End of Nights, Part 1)

Their technical skills allowed them to engage in metamorphosis-style transformation of subjects including Abnormals in order to create enhanced beings. (Episode: End of Nights, Part 1)
