Biography

Origin

Shen Xorn in X-Men v2 #160.

Shen Xorn was a Chinese Mutant with him being the twin brother of Kuan-Yin Xorn. (X-Men v2 #162)

After recovering at the Xavier Institute for Gifted Youngsters, he had engaged in a mental dialogue with Emma Frost allowing her to learn of his past. He revealed that his brother Xorn had been affected by a malevolent force that sought to destroy the X-Men. (X-Men v2 #162)

As the fighting grew more intense, Xorn believed that he had no choice but to open the black hole within his brain once more to dispose of the attackers. To hold Black Tom in place, Nocturne came to possess him whilst the Juggernaut held onto the other Brotherhood members to prevent them from escaping. Mindee Cuckoo then used her powers to wipe the villains memories of the X-Men whilst Xorn removed his mask. Holding onto their foes, Nocturne and Juggernaut allowed them to be pulled into the black hole made by Xorn to ensure that the new Brotherhood was defeated. In the aftermath, Xorn decided that he needed time away to meditate over his actions and parted ways with the X-Men. (X-Men v2 #164)

Return

He remained in Tibet to continue his meditations which remained the case until the spread of the Terrigen Mists around the world that proved toxic to Mutants. Around this time, Monet St. Croix arrived at the temple in order to recover Xorn due to the fact that the Dark Riders had been eliminating those with healing abilities. However, Shen Xorn refused to leave Tibet and told M that he would be fine leading to her leaving. (Uncanny X-Men v4 #3) The Dark Riders later arrived at the Tibetan temple to assassinate him but Xorn effortlessly repulsed the attempt with Barrage being killed in the process. (Uncanny X-Men v4 #4) Afterwards, Magneto came to the temple at Tibet to meet with Xorn in order to get his aid in healing him. (Uncanny X-Men v4 #6)

Numerous brainwashed Mutants abducted by Exodus were freed from his mental control and taken to Tibet where Shen Xorn agreed to care for them. Inside the temple, the body of Exodus was kept who was left in stasis as a contingency by Magneto. (Uncanny X-Men v4 #14) The reborn Elixir was taken to Xorn's temple after his powers and mind state became unstable where he was to train under Shen Xorn to come to terms with his life. (Uncanny X-Men Annual v4 #1) During the war with the Inhumans, Xorn accompanied the X-Men and was dismayed at their actions in engaging in practices such as taking their temple away from them with him stating his feelings on the matter to Sebastian Shaw. He later accompanied the Sleepers in stopping an attack from Inhumans that remain free in their city of New Attilan. During the fighting, an angry Shaw shrugged off Xorn's attempts to stop hostilities and struck his helmet causing him to accidently lose control of his powers. Whilst Xorn contained his abilities, it sent Shaw flying into the ocean and two Mutant Sleepers were killed in the blast. (Uncanny X-Men v4 #18) He then seemingly disappeared from the world where in reality he decided to meditate on the Moon after he felt himself too dangerous to be around innocent people. (Uncanny X-Men v4 #19)

During the Hydra take-over of America, Hydra Supreme Steve Rogers decided that he could not afford a war on multiple fronts. As such, he intended to offer the Mutants a refuge of their own in California with this being known as New Tian with Xorn being meant to lead this new nation. (Captain America: Steve Rogers v1 #15)

Whilst captured, he was fitted with an inhibitor collar to prevent him from using his powers. However, when Emma betrayed her allies, she looked to free the captives leading Xorn along with the others escaping their cells. They battled Havok's cabal where Xorn unleashed his powers to create a singularity to consume Bastion with himself seemingly lost in the process and his mask being all that remained behind. (X-Men: Blue v1 #28)

House of X

After the establishment of Krakoa, the living island was declared a sovereign nation and a homeland for all Mutants that were invited to reside on its surface. The Xorn brothers came to be reunited after being reborn when Mutants began to make use of the Resurrection Protocols whereupon they became citizens of the new country. (House of X v1 #1) Shen Xorn came to be recruited into re-established S.W.O.R.D. agency where he served as a backup for Risque in the creation of the Six teleportation circuit. (S.W.O.R.D. v2 #1) He and his brother were later recruited by the reborn Legion to help keep a watch over him and to potentially destroy him if he lost control of his powers. (Way of X v1 #3)

Personality and attributes

As a Krakoan, he came to operate under the name of Zorn. (S.W.O.R.D. v2 #1)

Powers and abilities

As a Mutant, his power manifested itself in him having a black hole as a brain. It was not known how his brain operated but the intellect was there but was difficult to reach. (X-Men v2 #162) Around his head were gravity and magnetic distortions that were similar to the effects of a black hole. (X-Men v2 #158)

An added power he had was being telepathic allowing to engage in mind conversations with others. (X-Men v2 #162)

If his helmet was broken, Xorn was unable to contain his power as it formed a black hole that sucked anything into it unless another mask was placed over his head. (X-Men v2 #159)
