Under Sublime's orders, a large group of U-Men attacked the Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters seeking to harvest the Mutant students. (New X-Men v1 #119)

Overview
They were also known as the Recycled Man, the Third Species Eternal and as Homo Perfectus. (New X-Men v1 #136)
Upon entering their ranks, a member sealed themselves within suits in order to remain in perfection and leave behind the fallen world. (New X-Men v1 #120) Some had spent their entire life savings in the acquisition of their suits. (New X-Men v1 #136)
Members of this cult called themselves Homo Perfectus and consisted of the self-mutilated who believed themselves to be the Third Species. Each of these individuals believed that they were a Mutant soul born in a Human body and thus sought to transcend their orientation. They themselves as being special and made use of new developments in spare-parts cloning and cosmetic gene therapy to bridge the gap between Human and Mutant. The U-Men demanded the right to use these techniques to better themselves and claimed that until their demands were recognized they would remain in sealed suits in order to not breath the air or touch the soil of the fallen Earth. There were, however, stories of how grafts were rejected leaving the U-Men in agony though they claimed that it bordered on ecstasy. (New X-Men Annual v1 2001) Master John had said that it was their right and duty to harvest the organs of Mutants. (New X-Men v1 #136)
U-Men held that their rules were post-human rules who believed that nature made Mutants to supply their needs. One of their beliefs was that Mutants had a different nervous system and did not feel pain like them. (New X-Men v1 #120) They often attacked Mutants in order to claim body parts for them to be implanted in their own body. (New X-Men v1 #118) Initiation involved members being responsible for dissecting a Mutant for the needed organ parts. (New X-Men v1 #120)
Leadership was held by a body known as U-Men Central that was divided among group leaders and their subordinates. (New X-Men v1 #136)
Funerals were not seen as a sad occasion but rather a time of rejoicing in cases where they died due to rejection of their transplants. The deceased was deemed not pure enough and their Mutant body parts were harvested by their comrades. (New X-Men v1 #136)
Their technology was driven by the use of Sentinel enriched liquids. (New X-Men v1 #125)

It was shown that Director Malcolm Concord was supported in restarting the Weapon X program by John Sublime on the condition he created Neverland Camps where Mutants were detained. These Mutants were to be killed for their organs that would be used by the U-Men. However, 30 years in the future, the Sentinels emerged under the direction of Malcolm Concord who had the U-Men and the Children exterminated.

Television
- In Marvel Anime, the U-Men appeared in the setting of the anime television mini-series where they served as the initial antagonists in the X-Men segment. They were described as being an anti-Mutant group that targeted Mutants in order to harvest their organs. It was rumored that they were operating in Northern Japan and in fact they had set up an operation in secret where they began abducting children that were taken to their hidden laboratories. U-Men were shown as being cyborgs who had numerous integrated weapons added onto their bodies with their minds also being immune to telepathic contact. They were also armed with a special drug that dampened the use of Mutant powers making their targets vulnerable for capture. Their operations were responsible for the capture of Hisako Ichiki and Emma Frost who were kept contained in stasis. The X-Men were drawn to Japan after hearing of numerous Mutants being captured such as Hisako Ichiki leading to them investigating the incident. This brought them into a confrontation with the U-Men who were defeated with the X-Men tracing them to the laboratory. At the time, the U-Men were observing the capabilities of their targets for eventual harvest and Kick later battled them where he nearly succeeded in overwhelming them until Hisako's Mutant power manifested.
Video games
- In X-Men: Destiny, the U-Men appeared as antagonists where they featured as enemies in the video game. They were said to dissect and experiment on Mutants with this involving dissection of their bodies for body parts in order to vampirize Mutant powers. Such grafts sometimes ended in failure but was part of the U-Men's goal to sidestep the process of evolution. At some point, they established an alliance with the Purifiers to study Mutants at an underground laboratory to replicate their powers
