The Constitution class of starships was one of the more widespread types of United Federation of Planets vessels in the 23rd century. The class was so prevalent that some were refit, rather than retired, when their five-year terms of service were completed. One of the most famous Constitution-class vessels was the U.S.S. Enterprise.
