Biography
The fastest jet to ever grace the skies over Megakat City, the Turbokat is the primary vehicle of the Swat Kats and much beloved by both of them, T-Bone moreso than Razor. There have actually been three Turbokats throughout the Swat Kats' careers. The first was built from scratch by T-Bone and Razor shortly after they were kicked out of the Enforcers, and remained in constant use until it crashed and was damaged beyond repair during a battle with Madkat.
As thanks for saving him, Deputy Mayor Briggs, Commander Feral and David Litterbin from Madkat's clutches, Mayor Manx raised taxes to fund the construction of a new Turbokat for the Swat Kats. This Turbokat didn't last long at all, as it was sacrificed in the Swat Kats' second battle with the Invincible Alliance of Evil: Flown by remote, it was destroyed by a barrage of missiles so that T-Bone and Razor could fool Dark Kat into believing he'd killed them, allowing them to get the drop on the Alliance.
Once again, Mayor Manx raised taxes to ensure that the city could build a new Turbokat for the Swat Kats, although he initially refused to do so a second time; it took some prodding from the Deputy Mayor to persuade him. This third Turbokat was subsequently used by the Swat Kats first against Doctor Viper when he flooded Megakat City with Katalyst X-63, was given a variety of new features in time for the vigilantes to battle Mutilor (including the Speed of Heat), and up to their final fight to date, against Zed.
Overview
The Turbokat is equipped with a variety of state of the-art flight control systems. It utilizes fly-by-wire technology and an extensive flight control computer system, giving it increased maneuverability. It's radar systems are equally impressive as it uses several multi-spectrum detection systems including x-ray scanners, electronic surge detection, and later Dimensional Radar. The Turbokat's communication's array allows it to interface with a variety of both Enforcer and civilian communication systems. Razor has also designed the flight systems to interface with specialized visors implanted in their helmets (helmet-mounted display). This provides both pilots with an enhanced heads-up display, giving them up-to-the-second information in the combat arena.
Twin Megathruster engines power the Turbokat at cruising speed. The third, central Megathruster is typically not in operation during this time and is primarily used for aft stability when the jet is in VTOL mode, or when the SWAT Kats require additional speed to escape or catch up with a foe. Because all three Megathrusters are used in VTOL mode (with the primary two in reverse thrust and angled to approximately 45 degrees), the Turbokat is able to generate enough vertical lift to hoist and carry payloads of over of 8,000lbs, utilizing twin grappling hooks. All three Megathrusters also have afterburning capability for additional thrust. The Turbokat's maximum speed in it's standard configuration is Mach 5 with a range of 1,000 miles. This range is decreased when the Turbokat undergoes periods of increased fuel consumption. This can be caused by excessive use of hover mode, afterburners or when hoisting heavy objects for long periods.
The Turbokat had a top speed of Mach 8 where it was able to achieve 4500 mph with a range of 1000 miles where it was noted as an incredible flying machine.
Its armaments included a full range of specialized missiles such as:
- Spider Missile : these were missiles that maintained a line with the plane and once deployed they opened into a net designed to capture targets such as criminals or rescue people from danger.
- Octopus Missile : once deployed, the missile opened up into large metal arms designed to latch onto targets and pin them.
- Buzz Saw Missile : once launched, a spinning saw blade emerged designed to cut through targets.
- Mole Missile : after launch, the front end opened into a spinning blade that burrowed through rock to create tunnels for easy access.
- Groundhog Missile : these small missiles had a drilling top designed to dig short surfaces such as making new river channels.
- Turbo Blades : not missiles but actually razor sharp blades launched from the planes wings at targets.
In addition, the Turbokat was able to launch the Cyclotron missile that was not actually a weapon but rather an air-to-land high speed motor cycle designed for ground pursuit. It had a top speed of 200 mph and was loaded with its own arsenal of missiles. Another vehicle available to them was the Jet Ski missile that were sleds used for them to operate in aquatic conditions.
Ejector seats were installed into the plane allowing the pilots to depart should the craft be forced to crash. These seats actually contained their own rocket propelled jets allowing them continued mobility until the ejectors ran out of fuel. Should fuel end, the seats had parachutes to allow for a controlled descent and landing.

Notes
- The Turbokat was created by Glenn Leopold and Davis Doi where it featured in the setting of the SWAT Kats: The Radical Squadron universe.
Alternate Timelines
The Dark Swat Kats had their own version of the Turbokat, which was much more angular in design than the "good" Turbokat, and also featured a large green skull mounted on the nose of the jet.
