Biography

Origin

Amora was a female Asgardian goddess who was native to the realm of Asgard. (Journey into Mystery v1 #103) This meant that she had went through multiple cycles of Ragnarok where she went by different names in those many eras. In the Third Era of Ragnarok, a Frost Giant came to disguise himself as a mason and offered to repair a great hole in the wall of the city of Asgard in a year and in exchange he wanted the Enchantress's hand in marriage. At first, the gods were outraged at this proposal but Loki made a counteroffer where he told the mason to complete the task in six years as he believed the feat could not be achieved as the worker was only allowed his tool and steed to help him. An agreement was thus made though the Enchantress was never consulted on the matter where she wept at the betrothal. Nearing six months, the mason was set to complete his task with this infuriating the All-Father Odin who demanded that Loki insure that he failed in his task. In desperation, Loki came to change into a mare that distracted the mason's steed thus preventing him from completing the wall and voiding the agreement. The mason suspected that he had been cheated of his victory and transformed into his true Frost Giant form as he intended to kill the Asgardians for their treachery as he had desired the Enchantress. Going on a rampage, the giant was killed quickly by the god of thunder Thor Odinson. Later in the Eleventh Era of Ragnarok, as Idunn she was tending the Golden Apples when she was approached by Loki following his exile. He informed her that he had sighted apples of gold in another realm and convinced her to travel to collect them. Through the Bifrost, he took her to a frozen mountain where h said resided the apples but this turned out to be a trick as he made a deal with a Frost Giant who had desired Idunn for himself. Thus, she became an unwilling bride in his harem and her disappearance was noted in Asgard as she was the only person able to collect the golden apples that maintained the immortal lives of the gods. Heimdall came to reveal that he had sighted Loki with Idunn the last time before her disappearance with the All-Father demanding the trickster god rectify his actions. Thus, Loki travelled to the mountain once again and freed Idunn where the two attempted to flee the Frost Giant only to be captured in the pursuit. The pair were saved by the timely intervention of Thor who was convinced by Odin to rescue Idunn. With her returned to Asgard, she continued her duties in coaxing the Golden Apples from the World Tree as the Asgardians celebrated once again. (Thor Ages of Thunder v1 #1)

The Enchantress

In Asgard, the All-Father Odin was displeased at his son Thor Odinson's dalliance with the mortal Jane Foster. It was then that Loki suggested that maybe if Thor met someone more beautiful then he would abandon his pursuit of the human woman. Odin then thought of the Enchantress as a possible alternative with Loki seeking her out and giving the command of the All-Father for her to win the heart of Donald Blake which would gain Thor's love as well in the process. (Journey into Mystery v1 #103)

The Keep

Amora bewitches Donald Blake in The Mighty Thor v1 #15.

During the Dark Reign, Quasimodo researched Enchantress for Norman Osborn. While giving a word of caution that Enchantress was a seductress, Quasimodo stated that she could prove to be a valuable ally in the area of sorcery. As such, he advised Osborn to find a way to make her fear him as it was the only way to avoid being double crossed. (Dark Reign Files v1 #1)

When Thor died at the end of the Serpent's invasion, Donald Blake found himself on his own. With a lifetime of false memories and robbed of the Odinson, which had been the center of his life, Blake faced an identity crisis. Blake came to be bitter about his separation from Thor and his non-existent past. He was found Amora in a bar and made a deal with her, hoping to become a god once more. (Mighty Thor v2 #13) She pampered and pleasured him, and then fed him a Golden Apple, after which she cut off his head. (Mighty Thor v2 #14)

The resulting god is a twisted abomination, with Thor defeating the Enchantress and her new god before banishing them from Asgard, leaving Blake - reduced to a living head after his body was consumed to create the god - connected to a series of dream-weaving creatures to make him dream that he is living a full life. (Mighty Thor v2 #17)

After this Amora was defeated by Thor and banished to the forest in Norway. She was trapped in an Odinforce barrier and stripped of her powers. Lady Deathstrike and Typhoid Mary were on a quest to find Arkea, a gestalt microorganism capable of controlling machines and people. They found Amora and offered to help her regain her powers. (X-Men v4 #8) In exchange they founded a new sisterhood to battle the X-Men, who were hunting Arkea and Lady Deathstrike. Arkea hacked the Odinforce spell and restored Amora's full powers. In exchange for this, Amora restored the physical form of the immortal mutant witch, Selene. (X-Men v4 #11) She then helped Arkea resurrect Madelyne Pryor. Before the Sisterhood could add more members, the X-Men attacked and killed Arkea. Amora was ambushed by the X-Man M, who defeated her in a surprise attack. However, Madelyne Pryor swore to continue the Sisterhood, which presently has Madelyne, Selene, Lady Deathstrike, Amora, and Typhoid Mary as members. (X-Men v4 #12)

War of the Realms

She later came to join the Dark Elf King Malekith the Accursed's sinister cabal the Dark Council that planned to conquer all the realms. (Mighty Thor v3 #1)

During the invasion of Midgard, the Earth came to be divided amongst the members of the Dark Council who claimed a part of it to be their respective territory. Amora was given rule of South America which she claimed as her Dusk Lands and used a army of Draugr to maintain her rule over the land. (War of the Realms v1 #3)

Afterwards, she came to be imprisoned in Asgard where she later learnt that her sons were enrolled at Doctor Strange's magical academy though the pair hid their mothers identity from others due to her villainous actions. (Strange Academy v1 #10)
