Neferpitou wondered if they should head out to stop him or if he was a decoy and request Shaiapouf's advice. + | Neferpitou returns to their post. Welfin reports Leol's death and that the soldiers Neferpitou senses are made out of smoke. The Royal Guard itches to fight, but recognizes they cannot leave their post. That night, the King summons his Royal Guards, bothered by his lack of a name. Neferpitou recommends he choose a name for himself. Recounting that Komugi awakened to Nen as they played, the King enquirers what would have happened to her if she had gone through the Selection, to which Neferpitou replies that, due to her low combat potential, she would have died. After the King leaves to kill her, Neferpitou listens to Shaiapouf's concerns about the girl and concedes the King has changed since she came. Through their En, they feel her being attacked by a hawk, but they do not intervene. The rally of citizens finally reaches the capital. While conferring with the other Royal Guards, Neferpitou perceives the presence of new enemies. The Royal Guards are concerned about an ambush during the Sorting, which the King himself intends to take part in. By exclusion, Shaiapouf was chosen to keep watch over him discreetly. The enemies Neferpitou felt disappear, causing them to believe they used Zetsu and slipped among the crowd. The King calls on Neferpitou and asks them if they knew Komugi was being attacked the night before and orders them to take action if she were threatened again. That evening, Neferpitou smiles as the King strikes Menthuthuyoupi, giggling as all three Royal Guards have been hit by him. The Royal Guard relays to Neferpitou the King's order to shut off their En. Unwilling to take down security, Neferpitou talks to the King in person, suggesting they form a hole around the King, so he will not be distracted by their aura. The King refuses, as he would be required to either stay in one place or be continuously watched. He commands Neferpitou to use their En only on the outside of the palace, but Neferpitou worries that intruders might come from underground or manipulate the Ants who are permitted to come and go from the palace. Irritated, the King cuts them off and decrees Neferpitou's En shall go up only to the first floor and forbids anyone from coming to the second floor, including the Royal Guards, under pain of death.

+ | To monitor the crowd, Neferpitou sat atop the main gate. Compelled by a feeling they cannot explain, they look up and jump on the top of the palace. Neferpitou becomes convinced that enemies are coming and extends their En upward. They rejoice upon seeing a dragon made out of aura, but an instant later, they spot two men riding it who were [[Isaac Netero]] and Zeno Zoldyck. When the dragon touches their En, Neferpitou smiles upon feeling his power. They turn off their Nen to prepare for battle, but, much to their displeasure, the dragon breaks into a myriad of shards that rain down on the palace. Neferpitou was initially unable to locate the two men among the shards, but their heightened senses allow them to find Netero an instant later, whom they recognize as a far greater threat than Dragon Dive. They activate Terpsichora, but, before they can launch an attack, they think they hear Netero criticize their move and see him elegantly join his hands together; then, a tremendously fast blow strikes them from below Netero's position. Shocked, Neferpitou is launched into the distance. They try to call Shaiapouf, but the latter cannot hear them. Therefore, they activate Doctor Blythe to stop their flight and begin to drop. As they fall, they are horrified to see Dragon Dive strike the palace.

Biography
Neferpitou (Japanese: ネフェルピトー, Hepburn: Neferupitō) was the first of the Royal Guards of the Chimera Ants born from the Queen after she had been feasting on humans on the mainland. In time, she began birthing more intelligent and humanoid offspring until she had gathered a colony large enough to protect her. It was then that she proceed to birth the powerful Royal Guard eggs and then devoted her time to giving birth to a Chimera Ant King. Among the three Royal Guard eggs, the first to emerge was Neferpitou with the feline's great aura capable of being sensed by Nen users. At the time, Rammot and Peggy had been seeking a missing rare prey that was a Hunter named Pokkle who had survived capture and hiding among deceased bodies. Rammot then sensed Neferpitou's powerful aura as the Royal Guard entered the room where Pitou smelt the life under the deceased bones thus uncovering Pokkle's location. Through Pitou's ability, Pokkle fell under the Chimera Ant's puppet ability and taught Pitou about Nen along with water divination. After Pokkle had completed his instruction, he was no longer needed leading to him being brutally killed and fed to the Queen. It was then that Neferpitou sensed the approach of a Specialist and decided to intercept this enemy. This was actually the Hunters Kite, Gon Freecss and Killua Zoldyck who intended to arrive at the Chimera Ant nest in order to kill the Queen before she gave birth to the King. Kite had sensed the dark En of Neferpitou and quickly attempted to defend his two charges from the Royal Guard where he lost his arm in a sudden attack. The power of his foe led to Kite ordering Gon and Killua to flee whilst he battled the powerful Chimera Ant. Killua was forced to knock Gon unconscious to stop his comrade from fighting with the pair retreating whilst Kite battled Pitou. During the battle, Kite was killed by Neferpitou who enjoyed the battle to such an extent that the Royal Guard reanimated the Hunter's body in order to enjoy another fight. Kite's dead body was animated for use as training for the other Chimera Ants who were acquiring the ability to use Nen. Pitou continued to guard the Chimera Ant nest whilst the other two Royal Guards Shaiapouf and Menthuthuyoupi hatched from their respective eggs. Whilst standing outside guarding, Pitou sensed the presence of an aura that manifested as non-living constructs that were being sent across the jungle. Before acting, Neferpitou was approached by newly hatched Shaiapouf who warned that this was potentially a trap to draw them away from guarding the Queen leading to the two Chimera Ants remaining at their position. Afterwards, she placed Kite in medical equipment and began to conduct experiments on his biology. She was asked by Colt and Peggy to assist when a number of Chimera Ant squadrons began to disappear but Pitou stated that she was remaining in the castle to protect it with the other Chimera Ants having to deal with the attacker by themselves.
Afterwards, entire squadrons of Chimera Ants were being wiped out by human Nen users as they were being sent to get out food. The other Ants came to look for advice Pitou said that they along with the other Royal Guard members wold remain to guard the nest. They were present to greet the last of the Royal Guard to be born with this being being named Menthuthuyoupi. Later on, the Chimera Ant King was born who was named Meruem whereupon the Royal Guard's allegiance switched to him. They then had a meal prepared for him with Pitou being consulted by Colt who wanted their power to heal the Queen who's body had been mutilated in the birthing of the King. However, Neferpitou refused stating that there was no further use of the Queen. Afterwards, Pitou noticed that the King was disappointed in the food provided with the Royal Guard determining that their leader wanted the thrill of hunting for prey. Thus, they went in search for Nen users and provided an escort to the King. During their journey, they came upon a human village where the King killed two farmers to feast on them but found their taste to not to be his liking. Neferpitou came to inform him that the most delicious part of humans was their brain, and as such, it would be better not to damage it. They clapped in encouragement when the King killed a human child without harming their head. Despite recognizing the taste was better, the King was still not satisfied. Neferpitou tried to tell him that Gyo can be used to identify rare prey, but the King, feeling insulted, cuts them off with a tail strike to the face. Neferpitou then asked for their forgiveness and the King commended them for their strength, as he attacked with the intent to kill yet despite that the Chimera Ant Royal Guard had survived the strike. The Royal Guard then escorted the King to the Royal Palace of East Gorteau. Once inside, the King stopped Neferpitou before they can tell him the soldier in front of them was a rare. Neferpitou noticed his aura increase after he consumed the soldier, and they concluded the King's ability was to absorb the aura of the Nen users he consumed. They then give him advice on how to herd humans. When he killed Ming Jol-ik, Neferpitou decided to reassemble the humans body and control it to manipulate the citizens of the Republic of East Gorteau. Neferpitou then uses their ability on several members of the military. Under the guise of Ming Jol-ik, they ordered all citizens of the nation to gather in the capital, where the Ants would forcibly try to awaken them to Nen in order to gather high-quality food as well as to give the King an army to conquer the world. The process camed to be called the 'Selection' where it was expected to take the lives of 5 million people. Contrary to the expectations of the Extermination Team members, Neferpitou began the Selection as soon as the citizens begin to mobilize, starting from the western border. They succeeded in producing about 5,000 Nen users, who were put into cocoons by Shaiapouf. However, the amount they managed to gather was only 20% of the planned quota, as someone had been disabling Neferpitou's puppets.
Neferpitou wondered if they should head out to stop him or if he was a decoy and request Shaiapouf's advice. The other Royal Guard dismissed the assassin as a mere decoy, to which Neferpitou objects he is being careful not to get caught, so he might not be trying to lure them out. They thus entrust the matter to Leol's Squad, the leader and Officers of which have sworn fealty to the King in return for Nen abilities. Since they are unable to use telepathy, Neferpitou gives them a phone to update them on the assassin's location. After they leave, Menthuthuyoupi asks if they can be trusted. Neferpitou replies they cannot, but since they are trying to earn their trust, they can be useful until they attempt to betray them. To obstruct the assassin, Neferpitou has Ming Jol-ik place the country under martial law and warn the populace against dissidents. Unexpectedly, the King rips off his own arm while playing Gungi with Komugi. Neferpitou is forced to deactivate their puppets and En to activate Doctor Blythe and treat him. Shaiapouf takes over guard duty while, unbeknownst to them, Knov sneaks into the palace to set up some portals. When the operation was completed, Neferpitou reactivates their puppets and En and perceive the presence of Palm, who infiltrated the palace by tricking Bizeff. The woman stabbed herself, but, intrigued by her aura, Neferpitou saves them. They and Shaiapouf make her into a new type of human-Ant hybrid where they attempt to sever the connection between her memories and her emotional responses.
Neferpitou returns to their post. Welfin reports Leol's death and that the soldiers Neferpitou senses are made out of smoke. Overview
Personality and attributes
In appearance, Pitou shared many traits similar to a feline with human features such as a tail, ears and able to extend claws. The name was given by the Queen who had learnt of the concept of names and had begun naming some of her children. Neferpitou was given the nickname of Pitou (ピトー) and typically referred to by other Chimera Ants. Similar to the other Royal Guards, Pitou did not possess any memories of its former human life.
Neferpitou was typically shown having a calm and collected personality that yearned for challenging fights. The Royal Guard felt that the first true battle Pitou had was with Kite and desired to relive that battle. As such, Pitou was shown to enjoy playing with their prey. Despite their cheerful and playful manner, it was shown that Neferpitou as a cruel and terrifying individual.
As a Royal Guard, Pitou followed the Chimera Ant instinct of protecting their leader. At first, this centred on the Queen though ultimately this was done so in the hope of her birthing the King. Once the King was born, Neferpitou's allegiance went to them and ensuring their protection. In fact, the Queen was of no consequence and served no purpose in their eyes. At that point, Pitou was only fixated in protecting the King and enacting their will. Such was their devotion that they looked to eliminate any threat to the King. Pitou went so far as to call the Queen a 'thing', demonstrating little respect for their progenitress. However, they did have cordial relationships with some of the other Chimera Ants such as Peggy, Colt, and Rammot, and was not very strict with them despite being their superior.
Powers and abilities
As a Chimera Ant, Pitou was one of the evolved members of the insect species being a humanoid of incredibly strength, speed and durability. Senses were far greater than those of a human with Pitou able to see targets two kilometers away. The leg muscles were noted for being powerful allowing Neferpitou to use them to propel the Chimera Ant at great speeds and distances.
Unlike the other Chimera Ants, Neferpitou developed Nen upon hatching and had it as a natural instinctual ability that was incredibly powerful. After hatching, Pitou was able to sense the presence of Nen users that were hiding and generated a powerful aura that scared enemies. Chairman Netero commented that in his old age that Neferpitou was potentially stronger than him. Upon specialising in Nen, Pitou natural desire to fight a strong opponent in Kite led to the Chimera Ant developing the creation of a aura that could reanimate or control others. In time, Pitou came to be an experienced Nen user who served as a Specialist.
Pitou's Nen was able to manifest into a number of forms that included:
- Doctor Blythe (玩具修理者ドクターブライス Dokutā Buraisu, it. "Toy Repair") : through conjuration, Neferpitou was able to create a giant doll that could be used to surgically treat injury. It was equipped with countless medical tools that could be used to provide first aid as well as perform major surgeries. A mortal wound to the stomach was shown to be treated in less than one hour
- Puppeteering :
- Terpsichora (黒子舞想テレプシコーラ Terepushikōra, lit. "Puppet Master's Serenity") :
Neferpitou was born as a member of the humanoid Chimera Ant's Elite Royal Guards (王おう直ちょく属ぞく護ご衛えい軍ぐん, Ō Chokuzoku Goei-gun—lit. "King Immediate Guard Force"; formerly 女じょ王おう直ちょく属ぞく護ご衛えい軍ぐん, Joō Chokuzoku Goei-gun—lit. "Queen Immediate Guard Force"). They were specially bred Ants that were born to protect the Chimera Ant King.
