Biography
Gendo Rokubungi (六分儀, meaning sextant) was a male human born in the modern age where he lived in Japan. During his study at university, he came to meet Yui Ikari where the two started a relationship. From Yui, he was introduced to Professor Kozo Fuyutsuki who came to dislike Geno due to his own unspoken romantic feelings for his student. In addition, he came to suspect that Gendo had ulterior motives in pursuing a relationship with Yui that were tied to her connections with a shadowy organisation known as SEELE. - At Anime Expo '96, an interview with Hideaki Anno stated, "Gendo is the type of person who can see & think about the welfare of an organization as a whole. In other words, he'd do anything to succeed. He takes drastic and extreme measures, by fair means or foul, or by hook or by crook, in order to accomplish his own purpose. In some ways he's mean, he hardly cares about Shinji."
