Lord Darkstorm

Lord Darkstorm is a tyrannical villain that featured in the cartoon Visionaries: Knights of the Magical Light.

Biography

Darkstorm would be one of the inhabitants of the planet Prysmos who seized the opportunity to gain power during the Age of Magic. At this time, he would form his own base of operations called Castle Darkstorm and managed to rouse an army of soldiers under his command along with the boot licking servant known as Mortredd. He would also hire the services of the mercenary Reekon to serve as a spy and bounty hunter for his tasks. His primary goal was the conquest of the city of New Valarak ruled by Leoric but he was constantly thwarted. He was seeking other means of conquest when he encountered Merkylnn who gave him a quest to gain magic. Scoffing at this, Darkstorm would send the wizard down the trapdoor, believing that there was no such thing as magic.

After dispatching Mortredd on a glider to New Valarak to spy on the courtroom, he discovered that Merklynn mad a similar offer to Leoric's people. Rather then be at the disadvantage, Darkstorm participated on the quest with Mortredd and Reekon following him. There, they would work to remove the competition such as by cutting the ropes of the bridge denying the questing knights from entering deeper into Iron Mountain. Darkstorm would also use Mortredd to trick Leoric into believing they were helping a fallen knight at which point Darkstorm got separated from his followers and nearly met his demise after falling into a trap which he managed to escape. He would enter into another chamber where numerous knights werer trapped within a web. He stated that he would aid them if they sweared loyalty to him to which they reluctantly agreed. This resulted in the formation of the Darkling Lords consisting of Mortredd, Reekon, Lexor, Cindarr, Virulena and Kravex.

Once they journeyed into the inner chambers, Darkstorm would command his followers to ambush Leoric and his two comrades with the battle almost going against them until several other good knights entering to aid Leoric. Merklynn would end the conflict stating that in his inner sanctum they would recieve the magic he promised. Inside, Darkstorm recieved his totem power and magic in his staff where he planned the conquest of Prysmos under his rule.

Overview

Personality and attributes

He appears as a middle aged man with beard and moustache. He is shown to be untrustworthy and ruthlessly evil as well as a capable leader though an unforgiving one. He wears a dark suited armor that was coloured murky green and indigo.

Lord Darkstorm was a devious opponent who seeks nothing less then the domination of Prysmos and the destruction of his enemies namely the Spectral Knights. He is power hungry to the point that he constantly plots to obtain magic that would allow him to break free from his dependence on Merkylnns magic. He is also capable of attracting evil followers and as no qualms with sacrificing them for his tasks. His notable servant was Mortredd who he dispatched on various tasks and would blame on numerous occasions for failure.

Powers and abilities

After seeing his skills within Iron Mountain, Merkylnn gave Darkstorm the animal totem of the Swarp Mollusk, a large green coloured beastial mollusk creature capable of shooting magical blasts from its mouth making it one of the more dangerous creatures among the Darkling Lords. His weapon of choice is a twin baded hand axe.

Within Merklynn's chamber, Darkstorm's power staff was embued with a special power known as the Decay which he could call by uttering the magical words:

"By what creeps,

what crawls,

by what does not,

Let all that grows recede and rot!"

Once the words are said, a four legged winged green magical gargoyle is unleashed which attacks the enemies that Darkstorm commands. This creature is capable of aging his enemies by engulfing them within its wings. If his enemy does not swear allegiance to Darkstorm then they will shrivel to death. Its also capable of reversing the process when the second magical phrase is stated. In addition to this, it can attack as normal serving as a monstrous opponent for Darkstorm's enemeies.

In addition to this, Darkstorm was capable of reversing the effects of his magic by uttering the following phrase:

"Power of rot,

obscuring truth,

what once was old,

restore to youth!"
