Aaron Davis

As the Prowler, he broke into Osborn Industries under the cover of night in order to steal some valuables from there. Unknown to him, one of the experiments conducted by the company was freed from its containment with this being a genetically engineered spider. Whilst pilfering items, the spider crawled into his duffle bag whereupon the Prowler left back to his apartment. The next day, he was visited by his nephew Miles Morales who came to reveal to his uncle that he had been accepted into Brooklyn Visions Academy. Davis then decided to celebrate by giving Miles a popsicle whilst away the spider emerged from the duffle bag to bite his nephew. This caused Miles to go into shock and a worried Davis called Jefferson whilst he tried to help his nephew. Miles came to make a recovery when Jefferson arrived at the scene where he blamed Aaron for having giving his son some drugs. This led to an argument between the pair with Miles running away from the apartment and Jefferson going in search of him. (Ultimate Comics Spider-Man v2 #1)

Miles made an ultimatum where his uncle was to stay away from his family and to leave New York City forever, Davis decided to use his vibro-shock gauntlets to eliminate Miles. At the climax of the battle, one of Aaron's damaged vibro-shock gauntlets exploded. The blast left Aaron severely injured. Before losing consciousness, Aaron cryptically told Miles that he was very much like him as Miles could only look on in horror at his uncle's state. Davis was reported to have died from his injuries the following day. (Ultimate Comics Spider-Man v1 #12)

Returning to criminal activities, Aaron bought an Iron Spider Armor off the black market and reformed the Sinister Six by recruiting Hobgoblin, Sandman, Electro, Bombshell, and the Spot, with the intention to steal a decommissioned S.H.I.E.L.D. Helicarrier. (Spider-Man v2 #234)

Afterwards, he went into hiding over the next few months where with S.H.I.E.L.D. defunct and Wilson Fisk as Mayor he decided to call upon a number of favours to give himself a clean slate. He claimed to had sold the Iron Spider suit back to Tony Stark at a profitable rate allowing Davis to maintain a decent standard of living. Around this time, Tombstone had supposedly attempted to recruit Aaron for a gang war that was raging in the area. It was from Tombstone that Miles Morales learnt of his uncle's location with the two reconnecting since their last encounter. (Miles Morales: Spider-Man v1 #7) He later found out Miles was missing and determined that a mysterious criminal organization had captured him with him kept at an office building. With this information, he approached his brother and sister-in-law with the Davis brothers deciding to work together to rescue Miles. This saw Aaron approach his old weapon supplier Ceres where she agreed to outfit him with a suit based on the Prowler in exchange for him doing jobs for her. Aaron accepted and with Jefferson's S.H.I.E.L.D. equipment they stormed the office building and rescued Miles from an organization that was experimenting on him. (Miles Morales: Spider-Man v1 #9) For the aid, Davis then had to do a job for Ultimatum where as Prowler he had to assassinate a crime boss named Don Cardelino but he was stopped by his nephew Spider-Man. Aaron then battled his nephew Miles who wanted to stop his uncle from going down the criminal path. Their fight was interrupted by Man Mountain Marko though the criminal was defeated but Aaron was now unable to target the Don who went to safety. He reported his failure to Ceres who informed him that she had no choice but to place a bounty on him for the failed assignment. However, she said that if he could get to her base she could work out a deal to ensure the bounty was removed which meant that Davis with a damaged Prowler suit and a weakened Miles had to make their way to the site whilst evading those coming for the bounty. (Miles Morales: Spider-Man v1 #12)

Leaving the villain life behind, Aaron came to see the good in the world when he came to be approached by the new Hornet. This was Hobie Brown the original Prowler who had learnt that Davis had claimed his old persona. Brown had been watching Davis for a while and decided to seek his aid when the Gang War had erupted in New York City. At this time, the Hobgoblin had been one of the crime lords fighting one another for territory across the city. Hornet wanted Aaron to resume the mantle of Prowler and to infiltrate the Hobgoblin's gang to gather intelligence on them. In this role, Davis came to serve as a lieutenant within Kingsley's crime syndicate leading to him into conflict with Brooklyn's Spider-Man once again. Miles Morales was dismayed at this uncle having gone back into a life of crime as they fought but this was simply for show to make Hobgoblin believe that Prowler was loyal. When out of sight, Davis came to reveal the truth about his role in the Gang War to his nephew. He also revealed that Kingsley's operation had a new technology outfitter called Rabble working for him. (Miles Morales: Spider-Man v2 #15)
