History

The Immortal Weapons were a group of skilled martial artists that were each the residents of the Seven Capital Cities of Heaven such as K'un-Lun. These cities only manifested on Earth every ten years but every 88 years an alignment created a cosmic convergence among them. Such a time led to the formation of the Heart of Heaven composed of each city whereby they were to battle one another in a mighty tournament. These tournaments involved battles between each of the Immortal Weapons with the victor gaining the ascendance of their city in the celestial clockwork that led to their return to Earth. (Immortal Iron Fist v1 #8) Thousands of years ago, the original Immortal Weapons were responsible rounded up various demons, monsters and criminals that had plagued their people with them taking these prisoners to the newly constructed Eighth City. After completing their task, they placed a seal on the gate to that prison to ensure that none of its prisoners could escape. (Immortal Iron Fist v1 #22) However, K'un-Lun's first Iron Fist Quan Yaozu had to remain behind to prevent the demons from escaping the gateway leading to his capture and torture over the centuries within the hellish Eighth City. (Immortal Iron Fist v1 #25)

In the 1920's, the heavenly cities merged where an Immortal Weapon was chosen to take part in the tournament. From K'un-Lun, the Iron Fist Orson Randall was chosen to participate but after serving for years outside the city he had grown tired of seeing the blood and violence. (Immortal Iron Fist v1 #8) Oandall stole the book of the Iron Fists in the vain hope that the legacy would die with him after he ran away from K'un-Lun. (Immortal Iron Fist v1 #5) Attempting to leave, he was confronted by his opponents who attempted to strip him of his position but Orons came to lash out leading to him killing the Crane Champion of K-un-Zi. This saw the Crane Mother swearing revenge against him with her unable to produce another warrior for the next 300 years. (Immortal Iron Fist v1 #8)

By the modern day, the time of the Tournament of Heavenly Cities came to pass requiring a battle between the Immortal Weapons. (Immortal Iron Fist v1 #6) This saw the cities merge once again where the warriors were all called to compete. (Immortal Iron Fist v1 #10) Davos came to have his powers restored by the Crane Mother where he came to be the champion for the city of K'un-Zi. (Immortal Iron Fist v1 #8)

Steel Phoenix was defeated by John Aman the Prince of Orphans. After the tournament had ended, he was able to rejoice for a while and even listen to the other Immortal Weapons' stories but it was short lived when John Amon revealed to them the Yu-Ti's activities and intentions. (Immortal Iron Fist v1 #12)

Later, after saving the Celestial Cities from a Hydra plot to destroy them, he came to New York with Iron Fist like the other Weapons, where he fought with the Iron Fist against Ch'i-Lin, a mystic beast that kills the Iron Fist on his 33rd birthday and uses his heart to gain access to the dragon's egg, which he attempts to consume. At the Rand Corporation, and looked into Xaos learning he was descended from the Lightning Lords of Nepal. (Immortal Iron Fist v1 #16) They helped Iron Fist against Zhou Cheng , the host of Ch'i-Lin. (Immortal Iron Fist v1 #19) At Cheng's penthouse apartment they find a partial map to the Eighth City but were nearly killed by a bomb. (Immortal Iron Fist v1 #20) At the gates of the Eighth City, the Immortal Weapons focused their chi energies to open the gateway. Weakened through the process they were unable to fight off a group of monstrous creatures. They are brought before their master Changming. They were forced into gladiatorial combat and only rescued on the brink of death. (Immortal Iron Fist v1 #22) The only way they could communicate with each other is through Morse code. (Immortal Iron Fist v1 #23) The witnessed a fight between Danny and Changming claimed was the first Iron Fist, Quan Yaozu Tiger's Beautiful Daughter escaped and freed the others where they then attempted to escape. (Immortal Iron Fist v1 #24) Working together they open the gateway, but was Changming's plan all along. Working together they are able to escape trapping the creatures in the Eighth City. (Immortal Iron Fist v1 #25)

During Fear Itself, the Hammers of the Worthy descended onto the Earth where they awaited wielders to awaken them. One of them landed in the Eighth City where it broke it open and released its captives to Earth. This act summoned the Immortal Weapons who were all transported there to protect the city only for them to encounter Titania in her form as Skirn: Breaker of Men. The Immortal Weapons battled the villains but were unable to stop the Absorbing Man from claiming the hammer in the city leading to his transformation into Greithoth: Breaker of Wills.
