Biography

Tomoe was a Japanese woman born in the modern age who was unaware that she was of Inhuman descent. It was remarked that she was a young woman of no consequence in life. (Invincible Iron Man v3 #10) According to Tomoe, her parents were said to had died in a noble fashion. (Invincible Iron Man v3 #7) She later came to be exposed to the Terrigen Mists when they were released into the world thus giving her the power to control live technology where she claimed to had been reborn as a result. With this power, she came to operate under the name of the Techno Golem and intended to drive away outsiders from Japan. Using her newfound abilities, Tomoe drove away the different nefarious organizations that preyed on her land, amassing an army of 'biohack' ninja in the process, made up of other people she considered to be disowed and disenfranchised, and successfully seized control of the underworld in Osaka, Japan as the head of the Southeast Asia Crime Syndicate. (Invincible Iron Man v3 #10)

During her journey to retrieve powerful mystical objects, Madame Masque crossed paths with Tomoe's ninja clan, and made enemies of them. (Invincible Iron Man v3 #1) Iron Man first came into contact with the clan when he came across several ninja while investigating Masque's operations, and they tried to murder him to remain in the shadows. (Invincible Iron Man v3 #3) After Masque's defeat, Tony Stark enlisted the help of his friend War Machine to find out why were they trailing her. During the investigation, he was abducted by two of them and taken to a warehouse. (Invincible Iron Man v3 #6) To stop her activities, War Machine James Rhodes was sent to Japan who ended up confronting the Biohack ninjas. Her cult was responsible for capturing Rhodes with Tomoe planning to capture the hero. With her powers, she was able to strip him of his Iron Man Armor that she equipped to herself. (Invincible Iron Man v3 #7) Before she could interrogate and kill Rhodes, Ïron Man and Spider-Man appeared on the scene to rescue him; however, she absorbed Stark's armor into her as well, gaining even more power and creating a devastating explosion that seemingly killed Stark. (Invincible Iron Man v3 #8) She then looked to torture him for American secrets where she threatened to remove body parts for failing to answer her questions. Her attempts were interrupted by Iron Man and Spider-Man who came to save Rhodes but they found any technology and equipment being co-opted by Tomoe. (Invincible Iron Man v3 #9) Stark actually survived, but went under the radar and adopted the identity of "Richard Franco," an alleged former Navy SEAL and ex-S.H.I.E.L.D. agent. Under the alias of Franco, Stark made his way through the Japanese underground for weeks until Tomoe took notice of him and enlisted his help in finding War Machine and killing him in order to tie up loose ends. (Invincible Iron Man v3 #10) When Rhodes decided to put an end to Tony's undercover operation for his own good, he enlisted the help of the Avengers. The growing presence of superheroes in Osaka worried Tomoe, thinking they had arrived to avenge Tony Stark. The heroes eventually attacked Tomoe's base of operations, disrupting her enterprise; however, Tomoe herself had preemptively escaped. (Invincible Iron Man v3 #11)
