Biography
Origin
Tarn the Uncaring was a male human Mutant/Daemon hybrid seemingly one of those born from the forced breeding program orchestrated by Annihilation on captured Okkaran Mutants when they were stranded in the realm of Amenth. (X-Men v5 #14) In time, Tarn became an Omega Level mutant and sorcerer capable of manipulating the genes of his fellow mutants. He used his power to sculpt the bodies and abilities of despised Amenthian mutants who pledged themselves to him. Many of them died through this process, but the ones who survived served Tarn without question, worshipping him as a god. Those that did so became his followers that were known as the Locus Vile. (Hellions v1 #6) It was said that Tarn became the lover of Isca the Unbeaten, an Okkaran mutant who had been compelled to defect to the side of Amenth by her powers, which made her unable to lose and forced her to always side with the winner in any war. (X-Men: Red v2 #7) Later on, Genesis in an effort to save her people became one with Annihilation thus forcing the Mutant land of Arakko to submit to Amenth. (X-Men v5 #14) During the Amenthian occupation of Arakko, Tarn came to establish the Vile School whose omnipaths monitored the Arakkii populace, capturing anyone with dissident thoughts and sending them to the Abyssal Prisons where they were tortured. Tarn oversaw the prisons, and became a loathed figure in Arakko. (X-Men v5 #16) At some point, Tarn had claimed a seat on the Great Ring of Arakko, as an insult to all those who endured his tortures rather than bend their knee to Annhilation. He would defend his seat from endless attempts to remove him. (X-Men: Red v2 #1) At some point, Idyll the Future Seer had her tongue cut off by Tarn the Uncaring, rendering her unable to utter her prophecies. Her last prophecy before her voice was stolen predicted the eventual re-union and subsequent permanent split of Arakko and Krakoa. (X-Men v5 #14)
House of X
Later on, Arakko looked to expand its rule and invaded Otherworld until Saturnyne orchestrated a contest between them and the Earth-based Mutant nation of Krakoa. Chosen champions were to wield blades in a Contest of Swords with the inhabitants of the island gathering the Swordbearers of Arakko. In that time, their lands were visited by the Hellions who were a band of Krakoan Mutants headed by Mister Sinister seemingly on a quest to steal the Arakkii swords in order to make them forfeit the competition. They were confronted by Tarn who probed Sinister's mind and learnt that his true intention was stealing samples of the genetics of Arakko's Mutants. To stop them, Tarn summoned his Locus Vile where they attacked the Hellions and easily overpowered them where they succeeded in killing most of their foes. The genetic samples of Arakko were stolen by the Hellions who fled through a portal back to Krakoa though Tarn managed to capture Mister Sinister. (Hellions v1 #6)
Afterwards, the Contest of Swords had ended with Arakko being transported to Earth as a sister island of Krakoa with them ending their conflict against Earth's Mutants. Later on, the living island was transported to Mars after it as terraformed by Mutants with the planet being renamed as Arakko. Tarn and the other members of the Great Ring came to find themselves relocated to there where they found the Krakoan Storm being made the Regent of Mars. In this time, Tarn looked to attack Mister Sinister on Krakoa for his theft of the genetic material of several Arakkii Mutants but was forbidden from doing so by Storm and the rest of the Great Ring. He came to give his word but after his Locus Vile had uncovered the Bar Sinister he enacted a scheme to get his revenge. The Locus Vile were battling the reborn Hellions where they decided to summon their master where a Blade Fish was used to tear a hole in reality to allow Tarn into the location. Once there, he effortlessly defeated the Hellions and exposed Mister Sinister's treachery where he showed the Hellion's that Essex had killed them after their previous return to Krakoa. Sinister then decided to unleash numerous clones of himself to help battle his enemies where they looked to surround Tarn. (Hellions v1 #14) Tarn and the Locus Vile were able to defeat the Sinister clones where they tracked Essex to his secret clone factory. After finding them, Sinister offered to show Tarn the end product of his experiments which was a clone of the Arakkii that was spliced with Essex's own DNA to create a being with god-like powers. Before Tarn cold destroy the abomination, Amino Fetus came to be fed where he entered the next state of his cycle that could bring about the end of the universe. To stop this, he had Mother Rapture open a portal at the edge of the universe where Amino Fetus could be safely destroyed. Before leaving, Tarn vowed to return and mangle all the Hellions for this insult to him. (Hellions v1 #15)
Afterwards, he attended a meeting of the Great Ring that was being held by Storm who was declared the Regent of Arakko. In the gathering, Storm wanted to discuss the consequences of Tarn breaking of his word by his recent attack on Krakoa. He responded by saying that he would not leave Krakoa alone until he was satisfied that the slight against him was settled. This led to Storm challenging him to a duel in the Circle Perilous where he was easily able to disarm Ororo Monroe by disabling her powers and even mutating her grotesquely. Though seemingly defeating her, he was close enough to her for Storm to pierce his chest with a dagger where she threatened to kill him if he did not surrender. Amused, he decided to yield and restored Storm's powers and appearance where he acknowledged that she embodied the qualities of Arakko and possibly even of Amenth. (S.W.O.R.D. v2 #8)
Later on, Abigail Brand looked to gain some influence over the Great Ring of Arakko and moved Vulcan into place to challenge Tarn for his seat on that body. (X-Men: Red v2 #2) During their fight, the two were shown to use their Mutant abilities to negate the power of the other. However, Tarn came to quickly overwhelm Vulcan and brutally kill him thus proving to be the victor. Though the victor, he came to face another challenge for his seat with this time being from Magneto. Tarn came to accept the challenge as he was confident in his victory but unknown to him Sunspot had tricked Isca the Unbeaten to wager against the Uncaring. As a result, her Mutant ability to never lose ensured his defeat with Magneto having his helmet being placed on Tarn's head. Its qualities prevented Tarn from using his powers whilst Magneto then used his own magnetic abilities to crush his foe's skull seemingly killing him. Thus, Magneto came to find himself gaining Tarn's seat on the Great Ring of Arakko. (X-Men: Red v2 #3)

Personality and attributes
He was referred to as being the Great Genomic Mage. (Hellions v1 #6)
His powers led to him being arrogant with him frequently toying with his challengers. Using his abilities, he would deform their bodies and rob them of their powers before killing them. Tarn was vengeful and will go to great lengths to punish any perceived affront to himself or his great works. (S.W.O.R.D. v2 #8)
Tarn was said to not tolerate people stealing from him. (Hellions v1 #6)
Among the Arakkii, he was particularly loathed though he had an amicable relationship with Isca the Unbeaten, whom he fought alongside for a thousand years against Arakko. (X-Men: Red v2 #3)
Powers and abilities
Even without his powers, he was shown to possess superhuman levels of strength to the point of being able to break a Mutant's arm with ease. (X-Men: Red v2 #3)
It was shown that he had some form of telepathy that allowed him to read the mind of others. (Hellions v1 #6) Similarly, he could share what he learnt with others through this link. (Hellions v1 #14) His abilities seemingly operated through the use of telepathy and anything that blocked psionic powers prevented him from using his power. (X-Men: Red v2 #3)
The applications of his powers included depowering, empowering, and giving new powers to mutants; reversing aging; and disfiguring others with a thought. (S.W.O.R.D. v2 #8)
Tarn commanded a group of Mutants known as the Locus Vile who were referred to as the Sin-Blooded Scourge of Amenth. Each were a Mutant that swore allegiance to Tarn and served as a canvas for him where he scarred and mutated them as part of his work. Each wore a mask and had a abilities that they used to enact their master's will. They were feared and hated throughout Amenth whilst ushering Tarn to new lands so he could pervert the life there. He was known to had operated the Schools of Vile that inspired dread in their enemies. Tarn himself was known to had operated from the Tower Vile on Arakko. (Hellions v1 #14)
