Unnamed Characters
Intern
An intern who assists Mark Kenniston and Rudolph Agnew during their attempt to experiment with a clone tissue sample. Due to his carelessness, his hand is partially absorbed by the clone. Mark halts its growth by pouring iodine on it, but this only kills the surface. The surviving clone tissue then gets inside the intern's arm and absorbs him from within.
Man
An unnamed man at the apartment building where Buz Kingsley and his camerman Dave Romaine go to interview people about the mysterious disappearances. The disappearances cease being mysterious when the clone attacks the building. The man loses all three of his children to the creature, and in his despair commits suicide by throwing himself into the clone where he is absorbed.
Assistant to the Sanitation Commissioner
Timothy O'Herlihy's assistant. When O'Herlihy is "out of town" (actually at his girlfriend's house), his assistant is left to make his decisions in his stead. The assistant only got the job because his father was friends with O'Herlihy. When the order comes down from Mayor Slattery to flush the sewers in an effort to expel the clone, the assistant pawns the decision off on his secretary.
Fire Chief
The fire chief who along with his men assists Mark Kenniston in his efforts to combat the clone, spraying it with iodine. He, Mark and Harry ride in the fire chief's car to reach the site where the clone has plugged up storm drains and is flooding the city, and it is the chief who offers the use of the fire department's emergency rescue dive team.
Co-Pilot
Pete Laurenz's co-pilot aboard the passenger jet who arrives at the Chicago airport with him and along with Pete flies several refugees to Detroit. However, he does not accompany Pete on his return flight to collect more civilians, for reasons never given.
Matron
The matron of a women's prison where Edie Hempstead does volunteer work during the crisis. She, Edie and two other volunteers remained behind to tend to several prisoners who were either two sick or injured to be moved. When Mark Kenniston arrived with Harry Schwartz and they all became trapped in the prison, the matron showed them the way to get out and they carried the hurt women out and were rescued by the fire department.
