The next day while on patrol, Jeff answered a call to a disturbance involving multiple Spider-People. Jeff spotted a figure swinging away with a body and followed, only to find a boy in a Spider-Man merch costume in front of a body. The boy disappears and Jeff identified the body as his brother. Furious and in mourning, he put out an APB on "a new Spider-Man." Jeff then went to Miles' dorm and tried to apologize and explain the way he'd been acting; seeing the moving shadow under his door, Jeff just assumed that he was being ignored. |

Biography
Origin
Jefferson Davis never got along with his brother Aaron Davis yet he decided to join his criminal brother to meet with gangster Turk Barrett. Things got out of control and Jefferson wound up in jail only to be bailed by Nick Fury. Impressed with his fighting skills, Fury had Jefferson join Barrett's gang for intel, eventually working his way up to Wilson Fisk's criminal empire. Afterwards, Jefferson was offered a spot in S.H.I.E.L.D. by Fury but chose to live a simple life, meeting and marrying Rio Morales and having Miles. Jefferson is now a police officer in the NYPD, having kept Miles from ever interacting with Aaron and keeping a strict household in an attempt to lead his son on a clean path. Despite his overall dislike of Aaron's criminal activities, Jefferson was saddened by his brother's death.
Jefferson along with his wife and their son were then among the candidates chosen to take part in the lottery that added students to the Brooklyn Visions Academy. At first, he came to believe they had wasted their time but were surprised to find that Miles was among those that won the lottery leading to his admission in the charter school. The family celebrated though Miles later decided to visit his uncle Aaron where he came to be bitten by a spider that caused him to go into shock. Upon learning of this, Jefferson rushed to Aaron's place only to find that Miles had recovered from the incident. However, he came to believe his brother had given his son drugs leading to an argument between the pair. An upset Miles came to run out from Aaron's apartment to find his son but he came to disappear shortly afterwards when he exited the building. (Ultimate Comics Spider-Man v2 #1)
Afterwards, Jefferson was captured by S.H.I.E.L.D. only to be attacked by Hydra, attempting to get Jefferson to join HYDRA, but he kills them all and returns home to Rio. He tells his wife what happens and they go looking for Miles, finding their son at Ganke Lee's house. Jefferson is later attacked by Venom who puts him in the hospital. He's attacked again, but Spider-Man battles and defeats him, but at the cost of Rio getting killed. One year later, Jefferson discovered that Miles was Spider-Man, angering him and blaming his son for the deaths of Aaron and Rio. Jefferson apologizes and reveals his own past to his son.
Post-Secret Wars
After the events of Secret Wars, Molecule Man thanks Miles by transferring Spider-Man, Ganke and both their families to the mainstream Marvel Universe, with Jefferson being reunited with Rio. (Ultimate End v1 #5)
Concerned about his son's safety, he agreed to join this reality's S.H.I.E.L.D. as an agent where he kept an eye on him to ensure he was safe during his superhero activities. (Spider-Man v2 #5)

Alternate Versions
- In Spider-Gwen v1 (2017), an alternate version of Jefferson Davis became the Scorpion who appeared on Earth-65. Instead of a green suit with a large tail, he wears a suit and tie which appear to be electrically charged. Scorpion also carries a staff that resembles a scorpion tail and he seems to possess super speed. He also works for S.I.L.K., an evil organization similar to Hydra. Scorpion does battle with both Spider-Gwen and his son with the latter being confused by his appearance.

- In Ultimate Spider-Man vs. The Sinister Six, Jefferson Davis did not appear but was alluded to via a photo in the animated television series where it was implied he was deceased.
- In Spider-Man, Jefferson Davis appeared in the 2010 animated television series where he was voiced by actor Alex Désert. This version was more optimistic man who had a healthy father-son relationship with Miles Morales. In the season one episode "Ultimate Spider-Man", Jefferson teaches his son to use brains over brawn to solve problems. He is saved by the Ultimate Spider-Man from two Spider-Slayers. The character is next seen as Swarm in Spider-Man: Maximum Venom, utilizing purple nanotech bees that grant him a solid form and can use their stingers to mind control human beings. In the episode "Spider-Man Unmasked", Jefferson distracts the original Spider-Man by acquiring the Jackal's various formulas to amass an army of Rhino doppelgangers and Man-Spiders as the leader of an underground gladiatorial arena-based streaming show called the Underground Monster League for the criminal underworld. However, Jefferson neglects the task by capturing Spider-Man, Ghost-Spider, Spider-Girl and the Ultimate Spider-Man instead, who manage to escape and defeat him. In the episode "Generations" Pt. 2, Jefferson confronts the Ultimate Spider-Man on the Dark Goblin's behalf, revealing his determination to keep his neighborhood safe from crossfire. In the process, however, father and son discover each other's identities, causing the former to realize the error of his ways and flee in shock.

This version was a NYPD officer with a healthy relationship with Miles Morales as well as respect and admiration for Peter Parker.
