Terror Dogs were the monstrous dog-like servants of Gozer. They were lion-sized, hairless quadrupeds with glowing red eyes, short tails, and curved horns protruding from the sides of their heads. Although physical beings and not spirits, the Terror Dogs were nonetheless capable of demonic possession, and although they looked and behaved like nothing more than domesticated dogs, they were actually sentient, intelligent creatures who could speak (as humans) and perform human-like acts, such as copulation. Notable Terror Dogs are Zuul and Vinz Clortho, who possessed Dana Barrett and Louis Tully, giving their human hosts supernatural abilities such as levitation, electroconductivity, demonic growling, and transformation. Both Terror Dogs went on long journeys before finally meeting. Zuul encountered Peter Venkman when he arrived for a date with Dana Barrett, whom the Gatekeeper had possessed. She tried desperately to have sex with him, under the impression he was a friend of the Keymaster, but ended up angry and frustrated at his constant refusal which led Zuul to growl

monstrously and levitate above her bed until Peter sedated her. Vinz Clortho clumsily wandered around Central Park in search of Zuul. He confused a carriage horse with the Gatekeeper and became angry at the coachman for interrupting him, Vinz's eyes flared red as he growled. He ran away screaming about Gozer before eventually being arrested by the police and placed in the custody of the Ghostbusters, who ran some tests on him and inquired about Gozer. After the Ghostbuster's containment unit exploded Zuul awoke from her sedation and Vinz escaped. Zuul watched in awe and excitement as ghosts overran the city, causing chaos everywhere while Vinz walked along the streets getting a close up view of the mayhem. Zuul watched in a trance as streams of supernatural energy flowed toward her living room windows before suddenly turning up toward the roof of her building, she reacted by growling out causing her living room windows to explode, leaving a sign

for Vinz to find her. The two demons finally met at the Shandor Building. The Terror Dogs wasted little time acting on their primal urges, kissing passionately before walking up toward the roof of the building where they had sex through their hosts human bodies in front of the Temple of Gozer as part of their demonic ritual to summon the Destructor. Exhausted after their lustful union, both demons lay resting atop the ceremonial altar before Zuul awoke and sat up, looking around the rooftop shrine. Vinz later woke up, grinning in ecstasy from mating with his Gatekeeper. The Terror Dogs shared a brief glance before leaving the altar, both entranced by the lightning striking the top of the Temple gateway. Both demons walked toward the opposite pedestals, where they stood in wait while the top of the massive structure in front of them was continually struck by lightning from the hellish storm above. Once the structure amassed enough supernatural energy the Terror Dogs began raising their arms to the sky, smiling in excitement with their task almost complete. Lightning shot out from the top of the Temple, striking both demons who redirected the energy toward the massive Temple doors, forcing them to slowly open.

Zuul and Vinz, still possessing Dana and Louis, crouch down on all fours under the weight of the lightning striking their human bodies and instantly transform into their original Terror Dog forms. Zuul grins ferociously and wags her tail as she is ecstatic to finally be back in her original body Vinz lays on his pedestal as he smiles demonically, also excited to become a Terror Dog once again.

The Terror Dogs smiled as they saw the Temple of Gozer opening before their eyes then began absorbing the supernatural energy which caused their bodies to glow as they thrashed and gyrated violently under the force of the beams of lightning. Zuul and Vinz succumbed to the supernatural energy continually striking their bodies, writhing and thrashing as they lowered their hands to the floor where they instantly became bathed in lightning while transforming into the vicious, demonic, native Terror Dog forms. Zuul snarled and grunted monstrously as lightning ran off her new beastly body. She then stared at her large claws, grinning viciously in excitement for being a Terror Dog once again. Both Terror Dogs roared menacingly at the Ghostbusters before leaping up toward the newly opened Temple where they took their places beside a translucent doorway. The Terror Dogs witnessed Gozer's arrival and her battle with the Ghostbusters, but once Gozer was defeated, they morphed back to statues holding their prior human hosts trapped inside.

Even though they were presumed to be destroyed for good, the Terror Dogs reemerged 40 years later in 2021 in order to bring back their master once again. Zuul went on to posses the daughter of the late Egon Spengler, Callie, while Vinz Clortho possessed a summer school teacher, Gary. Just like the first time, both Terror Dogs met and had demonic sex in order to jumpstart the ritual to summon their master. They both regrouped in an underground temple and stood on two pedestals opposite a staircase, leading up to a giant pit filled with Gozer's army of ghosts. The demons raised their arms to the ceiling and were both struck by supernatural streams of lightning out of nowhere, causing them to thrash about violently. The force of the lightning weighed the couple down, causing them to drop down on all fours and slowly morph into their original, Terror Dog forms. Once the last of the lightning left their beastly, dog-like bodies, Zuul turned towards the new Ghostbusters, Callie's kids and their friends, and roared ferociously at them. Just then, Gozer emerged from the pit of ghosts and slowly walked towards her loyal Terror Dogs. She stooped down next to Zuul and playfully tickled her neck with her lightning-tipped fingers. She purred with demonic glee. As the ghosts escaped into the streets, the Terror Dogs leaped down towards two other pedestals opposite Gozer, and stood there guarding the entrance of the temple while Gozer sat on her throne. Callie's daughter, Phoebe, walked up to Gozer and began to crack jokes at the entity while her friend prepared a trap. Zuul stared and growled at her as she spoke to her master. The trap slowly creeped directly underneath Zuul's dog-like body as Gozer asked Phoebe if she was ready to die. Just then, the trap activated, sucking Zuul's demonic spirit into it, weakening Gozer's form in the process. Callie was transformed back into a human and was helped up and taken away by her kids. Vinz stood on his pedestal and stared towards Gozer in horror and anger at what the others had done to her. He began to chase them through the streets, roaring as he gained up on them. They managed to get back to their house, which was rigged as one giant ghost trap, and waited for the right moment. Vinz and Gozer, who was half skeleton, eventually arrived. The kids began to blast their proton packs towards Gozer in an attempt to weaken her. However, all they did was make her more angry. Suddenly, Gozer threw her arms up and released the spirit of Zuul out of thin air. Since Zuul is female, she would have to possess a female body in order to allow Gozer to be whole again. The only other female in the vicinity besides Callie was her son, Trevor's love interest, Lucky. Zuul threw her spirit into Lucky, causing her to be struck by lightning and get down on all fours, slowly transforming into Zuul's Terror Dog form. Zuul turned towards Callie and roared at her before reuniting with her mate and her master. Gozer passionately pet her Terror Dogs as they purred demonically before turning towards the group, about the end them. Before she could however, the original Ghostbusters, along with Egon's ghost, arrived to end their battle with Gozer once and for all. They managed to kill her, turning her Terror Dogs to stone in the process, freeing Lucky and Gary from possession and turning them back into humans.

The Terror Dogs walk down the steps of the alter towards two opposite pedestals. Vinz Clortho stares in awe at the temple while Zuul seductively slithers down the steps, smiling as she knows that her transformation is near.

Zuul stands atop her respective pedestal. The demonic hound glitters with sweat as she stares at the Temple, anxiously anticipating the coming of her master, the Destructor.

Zuul wags her tail and grins viciously as she stares at her new, beastly, dog-like body in acknowledgement of her transformation.
Vinz gets on his hands and knees and instantly transforms into his Terror Dog form. He snarls as he sits up and wags his tail, his new bone structure glowing through the lightning. He turns to Zuul, smiling at her new form before he notices the Ghostbusters, who had witnessed their transformation.
As the last of the lightning escapes her demonic, dog-like body, the newly transformed Zuul wags her tail as she barks and roars ferociously at the Ghostbusters.
Vinz, now as a demonic Terror Dog, roars at the Ghostbusters in unison with Zuul.
The Terror Dogs grunt and snarl as they dismount their pedestals and make their way up to the Temple of Gozer.
The Terror Dogs leap up the stairs of the Temple of Gozer and lie down on their respective pedestals, with Zuul on the right and Vinz on the left. Vinz stares at Zuul as she lays on her post.
The Terror Dogs look to the shining temple doors as their master, Gozer, manifests from within them.
Gozer walks towards Vinz Clortho with the intention of petting him to reward him for successfully summoning her. He lowers his large, horned head in anticipation as Zuul watches longingly from afar.
As Gozer strokes Vinz Clortho's head, the Terror Dog slobbers excitedly and purrs with a demonic grin on his face.
Gozer pets Vinz Clortho passionately. Both demons purr demonically in unison as Zuul stares at them patiently from afar, awaiting her turn with her master.
After her intimate encounter with Vinz Clortho, Gozer slowly strides towards Zuul with the intent of petting her as well. Zuul lowers her head as she is ready to finally have her moment with her master. However, before Gozer can reach her loyal Terror Dog, she is rudely interrupted by Ray Stantz of the Ghostbusters.
Gozer asks Ray Stantz of the Ghostbusters if he is a fellow god. Next to her, the Terror Dogs glance at her before turning their attention to the Ghostbusters.
Zuul unleashes a drooling, ferocious roar in approval of her master, Gozer, for handling the Ghostbusters.
Vinz Clortho drools and snarls viciously in approval as his master shocks the Ghostbusters.

One of the two Terror Dogs, Vinz Clortho, is shown in a Walmart, almost 40 years after first being sighted in Manhattan, staring at something with intent, growling.

Vinz stands up and wags his tail as he begins to chase someone through the store.
Vinz stands atop the persons car, snarling at them through the windshield, about to possess their body and search for the Gatekeeper, Zuul.
Vinz sits atop the hood of the car and stares at the person inside with great intent.
Callie Spengler, possessed by Zuul, walks up to her pedestal and smiles as she knows that her transformation into a Terror Dog is near. Her mate, Gary Gruberson, possessed by Vinz Clortho, stands atop his pedestal.
Callie stands atop her pedestal alongside Gary. They wait patiently for the right time to begin the transformation ritual.
Callie and Gary begin to raise their arms to the sky as the ritual begins.
