Sting Eucliffe is a male anime and manga character who features in Fairy Tail.

Biography

Sting Eucliffe (Japanese: スティング・ユークリフ, Hepburn: Sutingu Yūkurifu) was a male human born in the Earth Lands around 400 years ago. He lived during a time when Dragons had preyed on humanity and to combat the large beasts there was the rise of Dragon Slayers that utilised the creatures magic against them. However, this saw one of the Dragon Slayers transform into one of the creatures where he became the Black Dragon Acnologia that started killing the rest of the Dragons and terrorised the lands. Around this time, Sting was one of many orphans where he along with four others were chosen to be Dragon Slayers by Dragons that cared for them. The five were to be part of a plot to defeat Acnologia and the Dragons bonded their souls to their charges who were dispatched 400 years into the future via the Eclipse Gate in a time when ethernano was rich in the world. They five were then to be trained to adulthood and work together to defeat Acnologia who had survived in hibernation over the centuries. However, upon arriving into the modern age, an incident occurred that separated the Dragon Slayers from one another where they each were raised independently and they came to forget their origins. Later on, he came to be approached by the Exceed Lector who marvelled at Sting's strength and wanted to become disciple. Eucliffe came to admire Lector not being afraid of him and decided to let the Exceed follow him as they travelled across the lands. Lector one time bragged how Sting killed a Dragon but people bullied him for the claim thus making him cry as a result. Not wanting his friend to cry anymore, Sting vowed to challenge the man known as Salamander who he regarded as a powerful foe in the hope that this would make Lector proud of him. At some point, it was said that he had been implanted with a Dragon Lacrima into his body turning him into a Third Generation Dragon Slayer. He also came to join the new Sabretooth magic guild that was headed by Jiemma Orland. The Guildmaster aimed to make their magic guild into the strongest in all of Fiore with Sting and Rogue Cheney contributing to this goal.

Both him and Rogue Cheney were eliminating some Dark Mages when Sting told his comrade the news that the missing Fairy Tail members from 7 years ago had returned. Cheney seemingly showed no interest but Sting reminded Rogue on how both of them used to admire Natsu Dragneel.

Overview

Personality and attributes

In appearance, Sting Eucliffe was a slim yet muscular toned young human man of average height who had spiky blonde hair where stands jutted outwards in every direction whilst a smaller frontal tuft of hair hung over his forehead. He came to be known as the White Dragon (白竜 Hakuryū).

Typically, he was shown as being a calm individual who was usually smiling with him rarely losing his temper.

It was shown that he enjoyed watching fights and came to be disappointed if a battle ended too quickly.

Sting was shown to be somewhat arrogant and often boasted about his superiority as a Dragon Slayer. Initially, he followed the dictates of Sabretooth where they aimed to be the strongest guild. As such, he felt that they had no place in their ranks for weaklings which were members that had lost their battles. This led to him not showing any sadness for any guild member being excommunicated over a defeat.

He felt that those people who abandoned their comrades were scum.

Powers and abilities

As a Dragon Slayer, Sting was trained in the arts of White Dragon Slayer Magic (白の滅竜魔法 Haku no Metsuryū Mahō) that allowed him to wield the abilities of physiology of a White Dragon. This gave him the power to generate and manipulate light to his every whim. As a Third Generation Dragon Slayer, he also came to have a Dragon Lacrima implanted in his body thus becoming a second source of power for him.

Originally, he came to join the ranks of the Sabertooth (剣咬の虎セイバートゥース Seibātūsu) guild that aimed to be the strongest magical guild in the land. In that time, he and Rogue Cheney came to among its most powerful members where together they came to be known as the Twin Dragons of Sabertooth (剣咬の虎セイバートゥースの双竜 Seibātūsu no Sōryū). Eventually, he was nominated as the new Guild Master (総長マスター Masutā) of the Sabretooth guild.
