Biography
Marcus Corvinus was the son of Alexander Corvinus and the twin brother of William Corvinus who all lived centuries ago. Their father was infected with the Corvinus Strain virus that turned him into an immortal with his twin children inheriting this trait. During their youth, the two Corvinus children were out in the wild where William was attacked by a wolf and bitten. The attack mutated William turning him into the first Lycan whilst Marcus was bitten by a bat transforming him into the first Vampire. However, whereas Marcus retained his intelligence, his brother William was transformed into a berserker beast unable to return to his human form. As a werewolf, he went on a killing spry across Hungary where his attacks spread his strain of infection to the human populace. The resultant act was that the survivors of his attacks were similarly infected with the lycanthropy virus and transformed into the Lycan menace who, like their progenitor, were berserker creatures unable to regain human form. The growing werewolf threat led to Marcus Corvinus approaching the dying Hungarian warlord Viktor where he offered him immortality for his aide in stopping the Lycan threat. Viktor agreed to this arrangement whereby Marcus turned him and Amelia into Vampire Elders and afterwards turned his army into vampires as well. With Viktor's military genius, the three Vampire Elders assembled their army to purge the Lycan threat spawned by William Corvinus and pursued the werewolf across the land. In 1202 A.D., the Death Dealer army managed to track William to a Hungarian village that he had ravaged though they were ambushed when the inhabitants turned into Lycans attacking the Vampires. Despite the ambush, William was subdued and Viktor was prepared to execute him though Marcus would plead for his brothers life. He would lie to Viktor by stating that if William died then Marcus would kill himself and those sired by him would similarly die. Viktor would spare William but imprison him for life and ensure that Marcus would forever obey him in the future by holding his brother hostage and hidden in secret. A powerless Marcus had no choice but to agree to Viktor as the Death Dealer army was loyal to the Hungarian warlord though Corvinus would swear vengeance against the Vampire Elder.
In the years that followed, the Vampires forged their own shadow society that hid amongst humanity. The Vampire Coven was established and a system created whereby one Elder would remain awake to guide their people whilst the other two slept in hibernation. This system left Viktor as the leader of the Vampire Council and Marcus's power undercut preventing him from achieving his goals. At one point, Marcus claimed t had enjoyed the company of the Vampire Historian Andreas Tanis. The system of rulership would continue during the years when Lucian was born and even after the Lycans rebelled against the Vampires. During the 21st century, Amelia was the Vampire Elder to rule whilst Viktor and Marcus were slumbering. Around this time, Lucian who was believed slain by Kraven was scheming in the background to orchestrate a plot to merge the immortal bloodlines of Vampire and Lycan to create a hybrid. This plot was achieved by Kraven aiding the Lycans in order to cement his own rule in the Coven. Elements of the Lycan plot was discovered by the Death Dealer Selene who opposed Kraven and decided to forcibly awaken Viktor as she believed that he was a just ruler despite the fact that Marcus was meant to awaken from hibernation. A captured Lycan scientist named Singe was brought for interrogation before Viktor where under duress he revealed the plans of create a Hybrid of the bloodlines which the Vampire Elder saw as blasphemy and he would kill the Lycan within the hibernation chamber. Viktor would depart to slay the Lycan/Vampire hybrid Michael Corvin and kill Lucian but unknown to anyone the Lycan Singe's blood would spill into Marcus Corvinus's hibernation chamber. This had the unexpected reaction of turning Marcus Corvinus into a Vampire/Lycan hybrid that broke from his sleeping chamber.
At this time, Viktor was slain by Selene and Kraven managed to escape capture where he fled to the Coven mansion to slay Marcus in his sleep to become the new ruler of the Vampires. He would be unaware of Marcus's transformation and awakening with his guards as well as himself being killed by Corvinus who would learn through their blood the development of recent events. Now free from Viktor, he decided to pursue his own plan of freeing his brother William and burnt down the Old World Coven. Striking at the Ördögház, he slaughtered any vampires unfortunate enough to be at the mansion at the time. From Kraven's memories, Marcus learned of Viktor and Amelia's deaths, meaning there was now no one to stand in his way. Determined that the time has come to free William, Marcus sought out Selene, a Vampire Death Dealer who held half of the key to William's dungeon. He failed on the first attempt thanks to Michael Corvin, Selene's Hybrid lover, who is also a distant relative of Marcus. He learned from Tanis that the other half of the key is held by his father, who had retrieved it from Viktor's body, before killing Tanis and travelling to the Sancta Helena to retrieve Viktor's key. Once there, he realized that Michael was the only obstacle in his way to Selene, Marcus makes a surprise attack and seemingly killed him.

Personality and attributes
As a Hybrid, Corvinus was able to transform from a human guise into a more hellish monster form. This Hybrid form had more bat-like features such as long ears and wings protruding from the shoulders that allowed him to fly.
After William was bitten, Marcus's motivations for capturing his brother was both to protect William and any of his future victims, as well as to relieve his intense survivor's guilt. While Marcus could not deny that his brother posed an enormous threat to both human and Vampire kind alike, he remained steadfast in the delusion that he could bring his brother in from his bloodlust. So certain was Marcus of this, that he truly believed that he and William could rule the Vampire Coven together.
Powers and abilities
Marcus Corvinus was born the son of the immortal warlord Alexander Corvinus and thus possessed the Corvinus Strain within him. This genetic trait was prone to mutation which in Marcus's case came when he was bitten by a vampire bat. The resultant change to his body led to him becoming the first vampire in the world. This offered him superhuman strength, speed, agility and durability that were well above that of humans. To sustain himself, he required to feed on the blood of humans which was needed to maintain his strength. Through this means, he was also able to turn humans into more vampires thus creating the vampire bloodline.
As was the case with Viktor, Corvinus as a Vampire Elder had the power to access the knowledge of others by biting into their blood and sorting through their memories. This process could happen in a short time and allowed him to be up to date on recent events after a century of hibernation.
Following his transformation into a Hybrid, Marcus's powers were even more enhanced compared to his Vampire form. He had the ability to transform from his human guise into a demonic looking creature with bat-like features. Such was the control of his transformation that he could manifest his monstrous forms features in any limb such as being human but forming his blade-like wings or turning his hand into a claw.

- In Underworld: Blood Enemy, Marcus Corvinus appeared in the setting of the non-canon prequel novel written by Greg Cox and published by Pocket Star Books. He was shown to have had a son named Nicolae, who Marcus considers to be a great disappointment. He and Nicolae argue constantly, and Marcus is disgusted by his son's hedonistic personality. In an effort to subdue Nicolae's behavior, Marcus and Viktor arrange a marriage between their two children, Nicolae and Sonja. This causes Sonja to become so distraught that she admitted her pregnancy by the Lycan slave Lucian, and attempted to flee with him, leading to her execution at the hands of Viktor.
