History
The Annihilators were a team of superpowered beings that were brought together to defend the universe from great threats. Their origin was traced to Star-Lord and his seeming death to stop the threat of the Cancerverse and the Many-Angled Ones. He had formed the Guardians of the Galaxy that consisted of a group of misfits who were supposed to help protect the universe. However, he came to see them as not necessarily being heroes and they were not the strongest beings around. Thus, he had plans for a group of cosmically powerful champions to be brought together with the purpose of annihilating any threat to the universe. He himself was unable to enact the plan before dying but he had Cosmo the Spacedog telepathically download this information and asked him to accomplish this goal.
