History

Andrea Strucker and Andreas Strucker were the twin Mutant children of Baron Wolfgang von Strucker who saw great potential in their future. (Uncanny X-Men v1 #194) While still in-utero, the children were bio-engineered by Dr. Arnim Zola to have superpowers, using the X-Gene with each gaining the ability to fly and fire beams of concentrated plasma as long as they were in physical contact, usually accomplished by holding hands. (X-Men: Phoenix Force Handbook v1 #1) Together, they named themselves Fenris after the great wolf. and formed themselves as a terrorist group where they were at times accompanied by armed operatives. (Uncanny X-Men v1 #200) Similar to their father, the twins are white supremacists, have great sympathy for the Nazi agenda, and strive for the Fourth Reich. The two came into conflict with the X-Men. While on safari, Storm interrupted Andreas' attempted assault on a native woman in Africa. (Uncanny X-Men v1 #194) Andrea retaliated for Storm's humiliation of her brother by shooting her in the head and leaving her to die. (Uncanny X-Men v1 #196) The Strucker twins despise Magneto for his role in their father's seeming death some years after World War II. They conducted acts of terrorism and finally attacked Magneto during his trial in Paris by the International Court of Justice for his crimes against humanity. The X-Men foiled their assassination attempt, but Fenris managed to escape by allowing themselves to be swept into the old city sewers. (Uncanny X-Men v1 #200)

At a certain point, the twins were informed by Moira MacTaggert that Forge and Banshee wanted to search and reunite the defunct X-Men. They came to explode their plane, injuring only the pilot, Cylla Markham who was later recruited by Donald Pierce. The Fenris twins began living in Madripoor where thye met with Matsu'o Tsurayaba who served as the new leader of the Hand. The Black Widow was sent to investigate the meeting taking place on a yacht docked at the harbor. Working with Wolverine, they infiltrated the yacht and take out the gangsters, but find out they are impostors with the real meeting took place somewhere else in the meantime. (Uncanny X-Men v1 #268)

The twins were later working for their father Baron Wolfgang von Strucker in his plot to use nanoprobes to mind control people. In this time, they used the technology to have Diamondback steal a piece of technology but she was pursued by Citizen V on behalf of the V Battalion. He came to learn that Fenris was working for Strucker with Andrea deciding to aid Citizen V after being apprehended partly due to her former romantic ties to the hero. It was during this time that she learnt that Citizen V was not John Watkins III but rather that Helmut Zemo's whose mind had been transferred into the heroes formerly comatose body. To maintain his secret, Zemo was responsible for killing Andrea von Strucker and departing the destroyed Hydra base. (Citizen V and the V-Battalion v1 #3)

Andreas laid his sister's body to rest in the family mausoleum in the Harz mountains. (Thunderbolts v1 #126)

Afterwards, Andreas was captured by the U.S. government and placed in the Thunderbolts initiative where they acted as special marshals that enforced the Superhuman Registration Act. Under the identity of the Swordsman, he was forced to apprehend superhumans that refused to surrender to the authorities with his own compliance enforced via nano-chains. In this role, he used the dead skin of his sister that was wrapped around the hilt of his sword in order to continue to make use of his powers. A further condition of his service with the Thunderbolts was that a year of work with them would see a clone of Andrea being made to restore her to life after which they two would be allowed to leave for Europe to live the rest of their days. (Thunderbolts v1 #113) Andreas joined the field team when Director Norman Osborn deployed him and the Thunderbolts to capture the rogue Jack Flag who had refused to surrender to the authorities. Despite their numbers, the Thunderbolts were outwitted by their foe with Flag breaking Andreas's sword and using it to stab Venom. Despite his skill, Flag was left paralysed and captured by the Thunderbolts where in the privacy of the transport Andreas began to beat the hero for his resistance. (Thunderbolts v1 #111) Andreas later got into an argument with Director Osborn with Norman threatening to end their deal which would see Andrea being restored with this keeping the Strucker in line. (Thunderbolts v1 #113)

In the aftermath, Andreas buried his sister once again where he lighted the pyre with her body on the Thunderbolts Mountain. He vowed to complete the terms of his contract but that once he was freed from his service to the Thunderbolts that he intended to kill Norman Osborn. Strucker gave a warning to his team mate Songbird about the dangers that surrounded them and that she should watch her back. (Thunderbolts v1 #126)

Though the twins were believed to had been killed, they had been returned back to life with them attributing this to the actions of their father. They opened up Club Fenris in New York that was an establishment for supervillains to enter. The Hood and his incarnation of the Illuminati arrived at the establishment in order to use Dr. Karvers research in producing an artificial Bifrost bridge. He refused leading to the Black Ant entering his body whereupon he returned to normal size thus killing him. This broke one of the policies of the Club leading to Fenris offering a reward to anyone that killed the Hood along with his gang. (Illuminati v1 #2)

After Krakoa became a Mutant nation, the Hellfire Club operated as a trading company that delivered advanced medicinals to the world. Within the power structure of the Hellfire Trading Company, Sebastian Shaw had his son Shinobi Shaw resurrected and he was tasked with adding to their faction in the company. Shinobi then invited the Fenris twins into their ranks as their Black Knights. (Marauders v1 #8)

Overview
