Biography
Count Dooku was a male Force-sensitive human from the planet Serenno who was born a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away. It was known that at some point he came to be taken in by the Jedi who trained him to be one of the Jedi Knights where he served as a padawan apprentice under Yoda. After completing his training, he took on his own student with this being Qui-Gon Jinn who went on to become a noted Jedi Master.
On a mission to rescue the abducted son of Senator Dagonet, one of the Republic's longest serving members, they traveled to the Senator's home planet which to their surprise was little more than a wasteland that had been completely stripped of its natural resources and ravaged by over-industrialization. The two Jedi headed for a barren village in the distance. As they walked through the village, not a single resident dared step outside of their homes nor answer Qui-Gon's questions, which prompted them to enter the local inn. Fearless and keeping his unperplexed Jedi manner, Dooku immediately asked for the abducted child of the Senator twice. One of the villagers questioned why she should tell them, to which Dooku responded by producing his lightsaber. Once the villagers realized that Dooku and Qui-Gon were Jedi, Dooku stated their intention to resolve the situation and Qui-Gon assured the villagers that they were not acting on behalf of the Senator, which prompted the villager to ask how much they knew of the Senator. She explained that the village's desolate surroundings were proof that the Senator, who might have had good intentions at the beginning, had begun to neglect his people. Qui-Gon asked the villager why the people did not simply elect a new Senator, to which she replied that things were not so easy. She then agreed to show the Jedi where the Senator's son was located. At this point, Qui-Gon and Dooku were surprised to discover that virtually every visitor present at the inn had been involved in the kidnapping. Escorted to a barn, the Jedi found the Senator's son restrained and surrounded by a droid and armed villagers. Dooku asked if the boy had been harmed, and having been assured that he had not, asked what the boy knew of the villagers' living conditions. The boy did not blame them for kidnapping him as he sympathized with their circumstance. At that point a villager entered and informed the group that Senator Dagonet had arrived with dozens of armed soldiers. The villagers immediately accused the Jedi of leading them into a trap, but Dooku calmed them by stating that their investigation was unknown to the Senator. Outside, Jedi and kidnappers watched as the Senator handed bread to the villager who had given up his son's location. One of the kidnappers remarked that many in the village would have done the same. Senator Dagonet ordered Dooku and Qui-Gon to apprehend the villagers and release his son at once. Placing himself between the Senator and his people, Dooku tried to calm the escalating tension by stating that their investigation was incomplete. The prideful Senator demanded his son's release, to which Dooku responded that the young man was in no immediate danger and that further investigation was needed. Unwilling to delay any longer, the Senator ordered his men to prepare to attack the villagers, which caused the villagers to raise their own weapons. The Senator then gave the Jedi one more chance to step aside, but Dooku refused. Dagonet claimed that the Jedi were supposed to serve him, but Dooku corrected him and stated that the Jedi served the people of the Republic, not its leaders. His patience exhausted, the frustrated Senator commanded his soldiers to aim and be ready to open fire. In an effort to protect the villagers, the two Jedi ignited their lightsabers.
At some point, he was noted to had become disillusioned with the Jedi and came to leave their order where he fell under the sway of the Sith Lord Darth Sidious. He came to take Dooku on as his secret apprentice with the Count Serenno taking the name of Darth Tyrannus after the loss of Palpatine's former disciple Darth Maul. In this time, he was set forward to institute his master's secret plans which was rallying many worlds that had become dissatisfied with the ruling government of the Galactic Republic. Under his patronage, these systems came together on the planet Geonosis where they planned to secede from the Republic. Thus, the Confederacy of Independent Systems was formed with Count Dooku becoming a senior figure and orchestrating the elimination of threats such as Senator Padmé Amidala of Naboo. Meanwhile, he also secretly had his fellow Jedi Syfo Dius killed and under his name had the creation of a clone army for the Republic being made by the people of Kamino.
Later on, he came to be secretly responsible for hiring the bounty hunter Jango Fett. The Mandalorian was first chosen to be a template for the clone army on Kamino but was also hired for the task of assassinating Senator Amidala. The initial attempt involving a bombing of her craft as it landed on Coruscant failed and she came under the protection of the Jedi Order.
After formally declaring their movement the Confederacy of Independent Systems, Dooku captured Obi-Wan Kenobi and tried to recruit Obi-Wan to become his apprentice and overthrow Darth Sidious. When Obi-Wan refused, and Anakin Skywalker and Padme Amidala were captured, Dooku ordered them to be executed.
The execution was prevented when the Jedi leading the Clone Grand Army of the Republic attacked. Dooku escaped and was pursued to his ship by Obi Wan and Anakin. In the battle, Dooku severed Anakin's arm, and dueled with Yoda before escaping and delivering plans for the Death Star created by Separatist scientists to Darth Sidious.
Over the next several years, Dooku led the Separatists against the Republic during the Clone Wars. One of his actions was to recruit a general fighting a civil war on his own planet through force. Dooku had his ship blown up, and had him rebuilt as a cyborg called General Grievous, and blaming the attack on the Jedi.
Dooku then led an attack on Coruscant, sending Grievous to capture Chancellor Palpatine (who was secretly Darth Sidious) as part of a scheme to turn Anakin Skywalker to the Dark Side of the Force. On his command ship, Palpatine told Dooku to kill Obi-Wan and fake the fight with Anakin, and Palpatine himself would in the end assist Dooku, and they'd both turn the young Jedi. In the fight, Dooku knocked Obi Wan unconscious, and followed through with the plan, only to realise that Palpatine was using him when he ordered Anakin to kill him.
At the climax of the Clone Wars, the Separatists came to stage an attack on Coruscant itself with Dooku participating on the onslaught whilst being based on his flagship. During the battle, CIS forces managed to capture Chancellor Palpatine who was taken captive on Dooku's vessel. However, Jedi Knights Obi-Wan Kenobi and Anakin Skywalker staged as a rescue attempt where the former was knocked out of the fight. This led to Dooku battling Skywalker where the younger Jedi bested the Count of Serenno whose hands had been cut off. At first, Anakin looked to take Dooku captive but at the insistence of Chancellor Palpatine he was decapitated by Skywalker. Thus, Darth Tyrannus was betrayed by his master who had his sights set on making Skywalker his new apprentice. His body was left behind on the ship that later crashed on the surface of Coruscant where it was destroyed in the process.
