Contents

Cheetah (Priscilla Rich)

The original Cheetah.
Main Article: Priscilla Rich

Super-villain and foe of the time-travelling Hippolyta during her time as Wonder Woman in the 1940s. Originally debutante Priscilla Rich, she became insanely jealous of Wonder Woman and developed an evil new persona- the Cheetah. She battled the superhero on a number of occasions, and was a member of Villainy, Inc.

Priscilla Rich eventually retired from supervillainy. When Barbara Minerva became the new Cheetah, Rich spoke out against her; years later, Minerva killed her at the suggestion of Zoom.

Pre-Crisis

The Cheetah lived on Earth-2, and battled the Wonder Woman of that world. At one point, she was taken to the Amazonian Reform Island, where the scientists present attempted to cure her schizophrenia. Priscilla Rich eventually died a peaceful death decades after her exploits in the 1940s.

Post-Crisis

The Golden Age Cheetah appeared to be wiped out of existence in the Crisis on Infinite Earths. However, after Zero Hour, she was apparently restored to history.

Cheetah (Deborah Domaine, Pre-Crisis)

The second Cheetah, pre-Crisis.
Main Article: Deborah Domaine

Pre-Crisis

Super-villain and inheritor of the legacy of her aunt, the original Cheetah. Deborah Domaine was wracked with guilt over her inherited wealth, and tried to make amends by working for extremist ecological causes. Upon the death of her aunt, she was kidnapped by Earth-1 villain Kobra, who used a combination of brainwashing and torture to turn Domaine into the insane defender of the environment- the Cheetah. The new Cheetah was armed with better weaponry than her predecessor, and battled Wonder Woman at Kobra's behest, only to be defeated. She later joined the Secret Society of Super-Villains. The second Cheetah was incarcerated in Arkham Asylum, but returned with other villains to conquer Earth-4, Earth-S, and Earth-X during the Crisis on Infinite Earths.

Post-Crisis

After the Crisis ended, the second Cheetah faded out of existence. She likely exists somewhere in hypertime.

Cheetah (Barbara Ann Minerva)

The second Cheetah (post-Crisis) after enhancements from Neron.
Main Article: Barbara Ann Minerva

Formerly the rather mercenary archaeologist Barbara Ann Minerva, the Cheetah was transformed into a feline humanoid by an elixir given to her by an African witch-doctor who was the last member of his tribe. Unfortunately for her, since she was not the virgin required by the ritual, she was eventually reduced to a state where she could only be healthy as the Cheetah, since her normal form became weak and helpless.

After many clashes with Wonder Woman, the two seemed to reach a sort of peace, until she sold her soul to the demon Neron for more power. She initially only seemed to gain greater speed, agility, and skill, and she no longer reverted to human form. However, all deals with the devil have a catch, and she became increasingly more feral and animalistic, until she transformed into a savage cat-beast with no trace of humanity.

More recently, her powers were stolen by Sebastian Ballesteros, who became a new Cheetah. Regaining her intellect, she began plotting her revenge, and eventually killed her successor. She also teamed up with Zoom, who led her to kill her predecessor Priscilla Rich, along with somehow giving her enhanced speed. She and Zoom were defeated, but escaped, and Cheetah introduced Zoom to her new allies- the Society.

Cheetah (Sebastian Ballesteros)

Main Article: Sebastian Ballesteros

Alias Sebastian Ballesteros, head of the Ballesteros Corporation and a dangerous corporate raider. He stole the powers of the previous Cheetah, Barbara Ann Minerva, using a blood-letting rite to Urzkartaga, the African god who was the source of her might. He allied with Wonder Woman's foe Circe, becoming her lover, and together they created the new Silver Swan. Ultimately, however, he was hunted down and slain by Minerva.

Notes

  • The concept of the Cheetah was created by William Moulton Marston and H. G. Peter where it made its first appearance in Wonder Woman v1 #6 (Autumn, 1943).
  • It is uncertain which Earth's Wonder Woman was fought by the second pre-Crisis Cheetah (at least from Who's Who), although it was likely the Earth-1 version.
