Biography

Origin

Bullseye in Daredevil v1 #131.

He along with his younger brother Nathan grew up in Queen's, New York around 27 years ago. His father had a government job who would regularly get drunk at home with him beating his wife along with the children. (Bullseye: Greatest Hits v1 #1)

Another prior account of his childhood claimed that he painted a bull's-eye on the forehead of his abusive father when he was passed out from drinking and shot him. (Elektra v2 #2)

He was said to had signed up as for the Major Leagues in baseball when war broke out in Vietnam with him enlisting. (Daredevil v1 #131)

It was said that he fought in the Vietnam War where he fought and enjoyed killing the Viet-Cong. (Daredevil v1 #131)

At some point, he came to serve as a special operative in the National Security Agency. (Bullseye: Greatest Hits v1 #2)

After the Vietnam War, he came to operate as a mercenary in Africa where he perfected his aim and throwing into a unique skill. (Daredevil v1 #131)

Many years ago, he was in Tokyo where he fought the Yakuza and effortlessly slaughtered their ranks. During this time, one of the girls they had kidnapped to sell into sexual slavery became inspired by Bullseye's actions and sought to become a killer like him. (Daredevil v2 #111)

Daredevil

At some point, he was said to had met reporter Jake Conover and came to reveal some of his past to the man. In New York City, he came to threaten a man named Mr. Hunnicutt where he said he would kill the man unless he paid the ransom. When the man failed to heed the warning Bullseye came to kill him though the death was strictly a business matter. This was because Bullseye had intended to use the man as an example and to make his other victims pay him for fear of their lives. This brought him into conflict with the vigilante Daredevil where he wanted to publicly best the hero and secure his own growing reputation. (Daredevil v1 #131) Bullseye fought and defeated Daredevil, although the hero soon tracked him down and prevented Bullseye's extortion schemes. (Daredevil v1 #132)

Daredevil defeats him again, and the despair of this repeated humiliation drives him to a mental breakdown. (Daredevil v1 #161) It was later revealed that this breakdown was in part caused by a brain tumor, which began to cause migraines, paranoia and hallucinations that everyone he met was Daredevil. He escaped from prison, but was recaptured by Daredevil, and the tumor was successfully removed. (Daredevil v1 #169)

Inexplicably, this convinces the Kingpin to employ him as a chief assassin, but he is fired the same day he witnesses the Kingpin's humiliating defeat at Daredevil's hands. (Daredevil v1 #172)

After being imprisoned by Daredevil, Bullseye upon his escape came to be infuriated to learn that Kingpin had chosen Elektra to be his assassin. This led to him tracking her down and killing her with nothing more than a playing card and her own sai thus earning the enmity of Daredevil who had been Elektra's lover. Bullseye fought the enraged hero high over the New York City skyline, until at the climax of their battle Daredevil allowed Bullseye to fall, seemingly to his death. Bullseye managed to survive, but his spine had been shattered leaving him paralyzed as a result. (Daredevil v1 #181)

During Bullseye's extended hospital stay following the fall, Daredevil breaks into his hospital room and forces him to participate in a two-man variation on Russian roulette. The revolver used in the game is secretly unloaded, but Daredevil has Bullseye take the even-numbered turns so that he would feel sure that the last shot is going to kill him. (Daredevil v1 #191)

He instead makes another play to regain the position of the Kingpin's chief assassin once again if he kills Daredevil, knowing he would fail. (Daredevil v1 #200)

Gradually, Bullseye becomes so immersed in his Daredevil impersonation that he believes himself to truly be Daredevil, a confusion which the real hero takes advantage of to defeat him. (Daredevil v1 #290)

Later still, when the news of Daredevil’s secret identity leaked to the media, Bullseye hoped to capitalize on the information and kill Daredevil both for his own satisfaction and to help the Kingpin’s struggling criminal empire. He then targeted Murdock and his new girlfriend, Milla Donovan, but Daredevil snapped, beating Bullseye to a pulp and carving a bulls-eye pattern onto his forehead with a rock. (Daredevil v2 #49)

Thunderbolts

By the Civil War, Bullseye had been arrested and was one of a number of villains recruited by the forces supporting the Superhuman Registration Act headed by Iron Man. He was recruited into the new Thunderbolts Initiative where he was injected with nanomachines to control his actions as they were used as operatives to apprehend unregistered heroes. (Civil War v1 #4) Bullseye was then transferred to Thunderbolt Mountain where he was placed under the care of Director Norman Osborn who came to head the new Thunderbolts Initiative. (Thunderbolts v1 #110) Their first mission was to arrest Jack Flag who had refused to surrender to the authorities under the Act. Bullseye was kept out of sight whilst the rest of the team attempted to catch their target but Flag managed to evade them. Jack fled into a building where Bullseye ambushed him and paralysed the hero by stabbing him in the vertebrae thus leaving him helpless on the floor. This allowed for the rest of the Thunderbolts to capture him whilst Bullseye was taken away secretly to hide his involvement with the team. (Thunderbolts v1 #111)

Bullseye fights American Eagle after having been deceived by Songbird and told that his nano-chain was disabled. During the fight, he simultaneously receives an electrical shock from the nano-chain in his system on order of Moonstone and is attacked by American Eagle. American Eagle beats him severely, mocking him throughout for purposely avoiding fights with superpowered foes, and finally breaks Bullseye's neck. As a result of the damage sustained from both being attacked by a man with superhuman strength and being shocked by the nano-chain, Bullseye is paralyzed, is unable to speak, and has incurred severe brain injuries. (Thunderbolts v1 #115)

Bullseye was later placed back under nanosurgery that was replacing his blood to keep him under control. During this time, he was unconscious whilst Thunderbolts Mountain fell into chaos as a group of telepaths called the Caged Angels used their powers to turn everyone in the headquarters against one another. This was part of their plans to destroy Norman Osborn and his Thunderbolts initiative with them accomplishing this from within their prison cells. Upon awakening, Bullseye was told that the nanochains were disabled and that he was able to go loose whereupon he came upon the largely unconscious Thunderbolts. Upon making his way to the prison cells, he proceeded to murder each of the captive Caged Angels thus eliminating their threat. With the crisis over, Bullseye was returned to his cell and Norman Osborn covered up the true extent of the events within the mountain. (Thunderbolts v1 #121)

Later, he joined the Thunderbolts in their efforts to assassinate Moon Knight. (Moon Knight v4 #25)

Bullseye was with the Thunderbolts when they fought the Skrulls in Washington DC. (Thunderbolts v1 #123) He took advantage of the clone of Andrea von Strucker being distracted by Moonstone to kill Andrea, and nearly killed Moonstone in the process. (Thunderbolts v1 #124) Bullseye travels along with the other Thunderbolts to Central Park and joins the final battle against the main Skrull force. Obtaining a missile launcher from the Zeus, he fires a rocket through the Skrull Yellowjacket's right eye, thus disabling the Skrull from engaging with other heroes. (Thunderbolts v1 #125) Osborn orders Bullseye to kill Songbird, finally giving Bullseye the chance for revenge. (Thunderbolts v1 #126) Bullseye nearly succeeds, but is incapacitated by the Swordsman helping Songbird escape. (Thunderbolts v1 #127)

Dark Avengers

After the death of Veranke, Norman Osborn was hailed a hero of the world for slaying the Skrull Queen and thus ending the Secret Invasion. This saw him replacing Tony Stark in the role of national security where he was appointed as the head of H.A.M.M.E.R. which took over from the disbanded S.H.I.E.L.D. Director Osborn assembled his own team of Dark Avengers where he operated as their leader Iron Patriot with Bullseye offered a spot in the group where he was to be their version of Hawkeye. (Dark Avengers v1 #1) On their first mission, they were dispatched to Latveria to the remains of Castle Doom to aid Doctor Doom who had come attack from the time travelling sorceress Morgan le Fay where he killed her only for the magic wielder to return with an army of demons though she was ultimately defeated. (Dark Avengers v1 #3) Afterwards, as Hawkeye he was with his Dark Avenger team mates as they fought against a rogue Hulkbuster robot where he disabled it and killed the pilot despite Osborn's instructions not to do so due to the public being present. The robot later toppled and killed 36 civilians with the Iron Patriot attempting to attribute blame to Tony Stark. Bullseye was then reprimanded by Osborn for his part in the deaths with the villain stating that he wanted credit for his kills and that he was no hero. Later on, he went in the night as 'Hawkeye' where he saved a woman attacked by a gang of men. He killed most of them but ends up killing the woman when she infuriates him by referring to Osborn as 'his boss' with the death of her along with the last gang member being witnessed by a news helicopter that was by the scene. (Dark Reign: Hawkeye v1 #1) Feeling irritated, he silenced the news crew by shooting an arrow into the helicopter, blowing it up. (Dark Reign: Hawkeye v1 #2)

He would then attempt to take out his old partner Deadpool where he was successful in incapacitating him and proving to be a worthy opponent. Deadpool eventually gained the upper hand and stabbed him through the chest with a meat hook. He later woke up in a hospital and went after Deadpool again only to be hit by a car while shooting an RPG at him. Ultimately, Bullseye paid off Deadpool to save himself from a death by chainsaw by Deadpool. (Deadpool v5 #12) Bullseye was also was taken out by Elektra when she stabbed him with his own arrow. (Dark Reign: Elektra v1 #4) Bullseye was later given the order by Osborn to eliminate Daredevil, who had been discovered leading the Hand. (Dark Reign: The List - Daredevil v1 #1)

He later slept with Karla Sofen when she noted his attraction to her despite him not trusting her. Molecule Man turns Bullseye into a pool of water to subdue him; however, as a liquid he still tries to attack Molecule Man. (Dark Avengers v1 #10)

He came to be part of the team when they went to Manhattan to look for Noh-Varr after he abandoned the team. The Sentry found him first but was distracted and left the battle only to find out later that Noh-Varr was gone. (Dark Avengers Annual v1 #1)

During an attack on Avengers Tower, the Sentry was dispatched to deal with the threat as the battle forced Director Osborn to call for an evacuation of the site. During this time, Bullseye caught sight of Lindy Lee being taken to safety where he dismissed the H.A.M.M.E.R. guard and stated that he himself would take her away. He commandeered a helicopter and shutdown radio communication in secret as he went to an isolated site. With himself and Lindy Lee on the helicopter, he began to ask intrusive questions about her relationship with the Sentry whereupon she slapped him. At that point, Bullseye then choked the life out of her and discarded her body over the water. He then returned back to Avengers Tower once the crisis was averted where he lied to the Sentry stating that Lindy had taken her own life. Initially, the Sentry was furious and nearly killed Bullseye who proclaimed his innocence and that he had no part in her demise otherwise he would not have returned. The Sentry was convinced of Bullseye's innocence by Osborn and asked for the location of her death whereupon he departed the scene to find the dead body of his wife. (Dark Avengers v1 #15)

While in the Avengers meeting room, he and Karla Sofen decided to show Osborn his lack of control of them by having sex in front of the H.A.M.M.E.R. soldiers. Miss Hand stunned the Ms. Marvel Karla Sofen and sent Bullseye to cool off; later that night Osborn gave him an offer, to kill Lindy Reynolds. Later the next day Dr. Doom unleashed robotic insects into the Tower after an attack by the Void on his person allowing Bullseye to escape with Lindy and snap her neck while above the ocean, where he dumped her body, later the Void attacked him for this, until Osborn supported his claims and he calmed down. The Dark Avengers along with the Initiative then invaded Asgard, believing it had no right to be on Earth. After crumbling the foundation of Asgard, killing Ares, and with the superheroes intervening, the Dark Avengers were disassembled, and Bullseye captured. (Siege v1 #4)

On the way back to Ryker's Island in a S.H.I.E.L.D. plane, Bullseye was able to scare the guards watching him by making them believe that the Sentry who had died in Siege would return for Bullseye. Bullseye was able to give himself a cardiac arrest, so the guards took him out of his straps and chains to perform CPR. Bullseye then woke up from unconsciousness and killed the guards with a defibrillator. Bullseye then killed the pilot and flew back into New York City, to Hell's Kitchen, where Daredevil had become the corrupt leader of the Hand, and established a base in the heart of Hell's Kitchen. Bullseye killed some of the Hand's guards, and called for Daredevil to come out of the fortress. Daredevil did come out, with dozens of the Hand's ninjas. Bullseye was able to kill every single ninja that he faced, and when he asked for more, he got a brutal Daredevil, who broke both his arms and then used a sai to stab Bullseye through the chest, much in the same way he had done to Elektra years before. (Shadowland v1 #1) Later, a group of Hells Bikers put together an unauthorized funeral service (as J. Jonah Jameson had expressly forbade) for Bullseye; Ben Urich is dragged along, as well as Danny Deaver. However, Deaver continually sees visions of Bullseye; it is not clear whether or not it is Bullseye's spirit or simply part of Deaver's psychosis. Bullseye's funeral service was interrupted by Daredevil and the Hand and a massive brawl breaks out, almost killing Urich. (Shadowland: Bullseye v1 #1)

Return

Daredevil later attempted to dig up his body and resurrect him as a servant of the Hand but was stopped by Elektra. (Shadowland v1 #3) The heroes interrupt the ceremony- Spider-Man explicitly noting that the only thing worse than killing Bullseye is the idea of bringing him back- preventing Bullseye's resurrection. (Shadowland v1 #4) He came to be revived Lady Bullseye using her vast knowledge of Hand resurrection rituals. However, the injuries he incurred were permanent, resulting in the loss of all of his senses except for sight. Lady Bullseye had him placed inside an iron lung through which he could communicate and his endless amount of time gave him the opportunity to plot his revenge on Daredevil. (Daredevil v3 #26) Among these plots involved training Ikari to serve as Daredevil's antithesis. When Daredevil return to New York, Bullseye sent enemies like Klaw after him, stole his father’s remains in an effort to convince him he was going insane, and had Ikari acting as his messenger by beating Daredevil half to death and making him fear for his life. (Daredevil v3 #25) He was later found by the hero after he had defeated both Ikari and Lady Bullseye. The warehouse where they were was subsequently destroyed, and Bullseye nearly drowned in radioactive waste, leaving him scarred and blind. (Daredevil v3 #27)

The paralysed Bullseye was left detained at a S.H.I.E.L.D. facility when Elektra sought him out for information on the Assassin's Guild leader. He though was taken by the Hand where he kept to be fully healed of his blindness and paralysis using their arcane ritual. However, he was recaptured by Elektra who then invaded Bullseye's mind for the information she needed about the leader of the Assassin's Guild. Later on, a fully restored Bullseye battled Elektra in Jakarta where he killed the leader of the Assassins Guild and escaped with his life. (Elektra v4 #11)

He was later hired by the Kingpin when an important file had fallen into the hands of Old Man Logan that could topple his administration as New York Mayor. (Old Man Logan v2 #37)

Though pursued, he managed to escape to a construction site with his pursuers following him where he battled both Old Man Logan and Vendetta in the building. Lester was captured where he was forced to reveal the location of Bullet's kidnapped kid with Bullseye only doing so on the condition he was kept alive. Glob was then sent to go to the coordinates to recover the kid only to find him dead with Bullseye using the revelation to free himself where he shot multiple bullets from Vendetta's gun into Old Man Logan. He then attempted to flee but was shot by Vendetta as he was escaping through the window and he fell wounded to the ground where he was apprehended by Shotgun just as the police arrived whereupon he was arrested and sent to the Box prison. (Old Man Logan v2 #45)

Lockdown

After Daredevil's protégé Blindspot Sam Chung was left blinded by Muse, Matt Murdock put out a bounty on himself out of guilt, attracting the attention of Bullseye and several other supervillains. Daredevil beat Bullseye and then revealed that he had put the contract out in hopes of luring Bullseye, as Blindspot's condition reminded Daredevil of the murder of Karen Page. (Daredevil v5 #16)

Hired by the Hood, Bullseye impersonates Ronin to commit crimes to ruin Hawkeye's reputation, however, Clint Barton uses Bullseye's identity and defeats the psychotic killer. (Hawkeye: Freefall v1 #6)

After the War of the Realms, he ambushed a supervillain named Goldrush who had pillaged the sword Dragonfang from Damage Control. Bullseye killed the man and claimed the sword that had belonged to the Valkyrie Brunnhilde. He came to find out that a new Valkyrie was seeking to claim back the sword leading to Bullseye mortally wounding Heimdall to prevent him from using his sight from finding him. (Valkyrie: Jane Foster v1 #1) He was ultimately defeated by the Valkyrie when she destroyed Dragonfang though the injuries Lester had given to Heimdall were fatal. (Valkyrie: Jane Foster v1 #2)

While he and the other villains were defeated, Bullseye was captured and held in an underground wing of the Ravencroft Institute by Mayor Wilson Fisk, who made Doctor Rajput and his staff clone him in order to get a Bullseye they could control. (Daredevil v6 #29) Upon being awakened from his drugged state, Bullseye escaped his confinements and murdered the whole staff of doctors that were on the wing, he also freed his clones. (Daredevil v6 #30) He soon started to hallucinate with a divine figure that convinced him to kill everyone on Manhattan to prove that he was the world's greatest assassin. (Daredevil v6 #31) For the next eight days, Bullseye continued his killing spree until he and his clones faced Elektra, who had taken up the mantle of Daredevil. (Daredevil v6 #32) He and his clones managed to defeat Elektra but she was rescued by Iron Man before they could kill her. (Daredevil v6 #33) The Bullseyes faced Elektra again, who had teamed up with Typhoid Mary, while the original kidnapped a couple and had them morbidly re-enact his murder of Elektra on a theater. When confronted with Elektra, Bullseye made his clones kill each other to prove that he was the real one before running away, though he was later captured by the original Daredevil, leading to his arrest. (Daredevil v6 #35)

Bullseye claimed that he felt stronger and faster with him feeling that he could accomplish anything. Thus, in the act of killing, he felt that he became more like god with him taking away anything the deity had created in life.
