Biography
Arkillo was a male bipedal humanoid native to the planet Vorn in Sector 674 in the universe. (Green Lantern v4 #10)
One day, he hunted and killed a person where he was feasting on their body when a yellow Power Ring arrived to recruit him into the Sinestro Corps. (Green Lantern v4 #10) He then relocated to the Anti-Matter Universe where he was on the planet of Qward serving as a slave master to the Qwardians who were forced to forge weapons for Sinestro. During this time, he would brutally kill and eat slaves that were not fulfilling their quotas. In addition, he served as a drill sergeant and trainer for the Sinestro Corps with Power Rings being spawned to bring new recruits into their ranks. (Green Lantern v4 #15) Arkillo was later by Sinestro's side as their armies were gathered as they began the start of the Sinestro Corps War. (Green Lantern: Sinestro Corps Special v1 #1) This saw the Yellow Lanterns and their allies stage a massive attack against the Green Lantern Corps all across the universe. (Green Lantern v4 #21)
He came to battle the Green Lantern drill instructor Kilowog on Mogo only to be buried under falling rubble. (Green Lantern Corps v2 #16) Arkillo would confront his foe again only to end up being crushed by an aircraft carrier. (Green Lantern Corps v2 #17)
Despite the loss of his ring and finger, Arkillo was able to escape Earth following the defeats of Sinestro and the Anti-Monitor. His actions after this are unknown, but he eventually made his way to Daxam when Mongul II summoned the Sinestro Corps there. Arkillo found Mongul leading the Sinestro Corps, and challenged him to single combat without the rings, with the winner becoming leader. (Green Lantern Corps v2 #33) During their confrontation, Arkillo seemed to nearly dominate his opponent but Mongul turned the tide where he ripped out the Yellow Lantern's tongue but left him alive to be 'seen' and not 'heard'. (Green Lantern Corps v2 #34)
Later on, a member of the Sinestro Corps suddenly died with Arkillo looking into the matter where he followed the ring to Earth. Whilst there, he discovered rings from all seven corps had selected Kyle Rayner to be their bearer. (Green Lantern: New Guardians v1 #1) Arkillo came to join Rayner alongside Blue Lantern Saint Walker, Star Sapphire Fatality, Red Lantern Bleez, and Munk of the Indigo Tribe as they travelled to Oa to ask the Guardians of the Universe about the phenomenon. The Guardians. however, attack the Lanterns who were rescued by the Orange Lantern Larfleeze. (Green Lantern: New Guardians v1 #3) The different Lanterns came to escape where in this time Saint Walker came to use his blue ring to restore Arkillo's tongue. (Green Lantern: New Guardians v1 #4) Afterwards, they came to battle the Vegan Archangel Invictus with Arkillo trying to protect Walker whom he came to consider a friend. (Green Lantern: New Guardians v1 #7) After departing the Orrery, Arkillo was shocked to learn that the Sinestro Corps have fallen apart during his isolation in the Orrery. (Green Lantern v6 #5) Returning to Korugar in search for answers, he learnt from the Weaponer that Sinestro and Hal Jordan destroyed the Sinestro Corps central Power Battery. Arkillo was then provided an independent yellow Power Battery forged from the fear of the Korugarians to continue his rage against the universe. (Green Lantern: New Guardians v1 #8) During the final fight against Invictus, Arkillo was able to use his new ring to attack Invictus with the 'spirits' of his people but his ability to control this illusion was limited. He subsequently left the New Guardians after the battle was concluded as he was disgusted at learning that Sayd had manipulated the events that brought them together. (Green Lantern: New Guardians v1 #12)
As the new leader of the Yellow Lanterns, he intended to make them into his 'Arkillo Corps' and began a mass recruitment campaign where he dispatched newly forged rings to find new bearers to add to his army. Arkillo's intention was to grow a large force and then wage a war against the Green Lantern Corps. Unknown to him though, the large scale recruitment led to many ambitious people joining the ranks of his corps where they had plans to oust him from power. (Sinestro v1 #1) Around this time, he came to be responsible for capturing Soranik Natu and keeping her a prisoner of the Yellow Lanterns. Sinestro later returned where he intended to reclaim leadership of his corps where he battled and defeated Arkillo. This caused him to fall in line and he was sent to the infirmary to be treated for his injuries as he resumed his position as one of Sinestro's followers. (Sinestro v1 #2)
