The most prolific of D&D settings, created by Ed Greenwood and first published for Advanced Dungeons and Dragons 1st Edition. The Forgotten Realms have grown to include a sprawling line of novels and countless expansions and supplements. Currently supported in Dungeons and Dragons 3rd Edition, updated to 3.5 with the Player's Guide to Faerun.

Canon Material

  • Forgotten Realms Campaign Setting (1987) and all official Forgotten Realms products for all versions of Dungeons and Dragons (1987-present)

Connections

The Forgotten Realms are connected to the Planescape setting and the Spelljammer setting (where it is part of Realmspace). Elminster of the Forgotten Realms met with Mordenkainen of Greyhawk and Dalamar of Dragonlance on several occasions. Several other settings are part of the Realms, including Kara-Tur and Al-Qadim.
